Just because someone claims to be Jamaican, doesn't mean they can cook "GOOD" Jamaican food! Don't you have people you know that can't cook? Or maybe you are the one who can't cook (seasoned, tender, mouthwatering, delicious food..)! Whatever the case may be, we ALL have a lane. Caribbean "Authentic" cuisine restaurant, Jamaican food is NOT your lane🚫! šŸ™…šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļø The cashier was all in my Kool aid(conversation) when I was telling my man, "Babe! I remember coming here one time before. I can't remember why I never came back but, I think we may want to follow our first mind, Lebanese food." The cashier dude is going, "what did you say? The prices?" I was looking like, don't worry about what I said! "I" was talking to my MAN, not you sir nose-a-lotšŸ‘ƒšŸ¾! Anywho, I looked at the $40 oxtail dinner and his $30 chicken curry dinner and was like Shiiiiiiiiiii!!! I don't think this the spot we want Babe! We don't mind paying for good food but when I šŸ’¬ no about it right now, you don't even smell anything cooking in this restaurantĀæ?šŸ¤”

The cashier keeps you engaged with conversation so that, you don't check your food before leaving šŸ˜„ (we dined in). It took quite a while, at least 20 minutes before we received our meals. We also ordered drinks, 1 sorrel beer and one ginger beer. My Babes chicken curry was ok. At least it was tender and had a little flavor. My oxtails šŸ‘€Ā”! The browning sauce was extremely hot. I don't mind spice if you can enjoy eating it but that was way too hot, with no flavor/seasoning AND the meat was T-O-U-G-H!!! I've never had oxtails from ANY Jamaican restaurant with TOUGH meat! That's one of the primary reasons people seek out a Jamaican food spot, for authentic flavor and tender oxtails! The cabbage had no flavor. The two plantains were the best part of the meal, šŸ™„šŸ˜’ they weren't dry at all. Let me tell y'all about the "rice and peas šŸ§šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’ØšŸ™„šŸ˜’šŸ¤Ø!!!! Success boil-in-bag white rice with a few sprinkles of dried peas! Making it look as if you had a ton of oxtails when all you had was instant, boil-in-bag white rice 😳! So if you like EXPENSIVE, TASTELESS"Jamaican food ", you are headed in the right direction! Idk how their reviews are so high! There's a little older lady on E. Nine mile road off Hayes in East point MI......REAL delicious JAMAICAN FOOD (Del' ) and she and her family are sweethearts!

FFT: When know one is at a restaurant: waiting for a pickup, dining in or ringing the phone off the hook with orders, LEAVE! That says...

Was in the mood for jerk chicken and after seeing the google reviews, we decided to give it a try. It was a Saturday, and there was only one gentleman working at the restaurant. However, we did not know this until after we paid for our meals. The man took our order, and went to the back to begin prepping the meals. As we waited, we noticed that there were at least 3 customers (one was a family of 5) ahead of us. We then waited exactly 2 HOURS and 15 minutes for our food!! TWO HOURS. That is absolutely ridiculous! As we waited, we noticed the other customers kept asking when their food will be ready.. He did not communicate with us regarding how long the wait will be, so we didn’t know if we should step out or continue to wait. We couldn’t even ask him because he went to the back to make the food and didn’t come back to the front. No explanation, no communication from the man. We watched at least 5 customers walk in, wait for someone to take their order, ring the bell on the desk, and then noticed no one was coming and then they walked out. We later discovered that one of his workers called in sick, so it was just him working; taking orders and making the food.

We found it quite rude and inconsiderate to not mention this to us before taking our order. It would’ve been nice to have a heads up, so we could’ve decided if we wanted to waste 2 hours of our Saturday evening JUST waiting for food. Our entire evening plans were ruined. We understand that things happen, and it was out of his control, but from my experience, when restaurants know they have slow service that day, they inform the customers to make sure that they are okay with waiting — or to come back when the food is ready.

When we finally got our food, it tasted alright. It wasn’t the greatest, it lacked flavour and the chicken tasted quite rubbery and was pink on the inside. It didn’t have the slow cooked taste, where the chicken comes right off of the bone. It just didn’t taste like the quality jerk we’ve had. Not worth the wait whatsoever! The man didn’t even apologize for the long wait.. The lack of workers could have definitely affected the taste and quality, however this was our honest experience, and unfortunately we will not...

I don’t even know where to start. This was hands down one of the worst experiences I’ve had picking up food. I placed a pick-up order at Caribbean Authentic Cuisine in Sterling Heights, Michigan, and things went downhill from the moment I walked in.

I called ahead and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. Fine, no problem, I came in about 35 minutes later, so it should have been good to go, right? Wrong. First off, the place had this funky smell that immediately made me question if I should even stay. There were only two people working, which already gave me bad vibes, but I thought maybe they were just busy or short-staffed.

I walked in and waited for a while with no acknowledgment. No one came up to assist me. I rang the bell, and finally, the guy came out. I told him my order for pick-up, and all he said was "OK" and walked off without saying anything else. No indication if he was grabbing the food, if it was ready, or if he was going to heat it up. Just… nothing.

I waited for another 10-15 minutes in complete silence. I thought maybe I should ask for an update, so I tried to get the other guy’s attention. I asked, ā€œCan I know how much longer it’ll be?ā€ He said something that I couldn’t understand, and when I asked him to clarify, he snapped at me, saying, ā€œI don’t understand what you’re saying.ā€ Like, seriously? You’re the one who barely said anything in the first place!

Then, the second guy came back, and instead of offering an apology or even acknowledging the delay, he proceeded to lecture me about how I need to be patient and pointed to the banner that had the word patience. ā€œPeople don’t like their food cold,ā€ he said, as if that was somehow my fault. He also bragged that I would ā€œlove the food,ā€ as if nothing had happened. The whole time, I just wanted to get my food and leave, but I was left standing there, feeling completely disrespected.

I don’t care how good the food is, I will NEVER come back here. Between the terrible customer service, the smell in the restaurant, and the overall disrespect, it was an absolute nightmare. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. There are plenty of other places around that actually know how to treat...

My overall experience at Caribbean Authentic Cuisine was a 10/10. I ordered the large oxtails and greens. All dinner meals come with red beans and rice. The food came out hot, fresh, and very delicious. Chef Nef was super nice. The restaurant was clean and gave a chilled vibe.

Some months ago, my husband was watching a food review by Mr. Chimetime. He mentioned that this is the best Jamaican restaurant in Michigan. Recently, due to a business trip, we were able to stop by the restaurant. We went late one night near closing time and came back the following day. O’my goodness, the food was delicious. The first night, we both had curry chicken and Jamaican patties, and the following day, I had oxtails with white rice, cabbage, and plantains. My husband had the Rasta Pasta and a Jamaican patty. We also tried his all-natural sorrel and guava juice mix, and we greatly enjoyed it too! If you're ever in this area, stop by, as you won't be disappointed, but be patient, as you'll be there for at least 30-45 minutes depending on how many customers he's cooking for. The reason is that the food is absolutely fresh... definitely worth the wait! And while you wait, you're entertained with the great sound of Jamaican gospel music! As stated previously, the first night we went was close to closing. My husband and I had the privilege of having a great conversation with the owner. We learned that he isn’t just a great chef but also an herbalist. He grew up in Jamaica, where both of his parents were herbalists, and he decided to fuse his knowledge of herbs and their healing properties with his love for cooking. In essence, when you indulge in his food and drinks, you get not only great-tasting food and beverages but also consume things that are actually beneficial for you. There are no preservatives whatsoever in his food. Yes, we had great food and a great experience! We will most definitely be visiting again!
