El Patio Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Troy

Did a restaurant review one time that wasn't positive. The owner/manager replied back stating "You only seem to do bad restaurant reviews". My reply to that is "Absolutely!". Here's why ... Most people go to restaurants because of atmosphere, but mostly to eat. But in my case I do a lot of takeout because I don't feel like cooking and because of COVID. So when paying for a takeout, leaving the cashier a tip, then getting home only to find the food isn't edible, best believe I'm gonna do a review! If the food is exceptional, which is rare in my area, I'll also do a good review ...

Yesterday, had a craving for Mexican. Looked at Google reviews. Ran across El Patio which was nearby. Reviews looked decent so ordered two Enchiladas Supremas "TO GO" - one with sauce and one with sauce on the side. Let me just say ... this is no where near authenticate or even close! Imagine McDonalds selling Enchiladas - this would be about it! There were supposed to be 4 Enchiladas. Not sure I even found 3 with all the stuff piled on top (piles of sour cream, lettuce, radishes, tomatoes). Then at the bottom were little skinny Enchiladas (I THINK!) sitting on top of something watery and red (SAUCE?) Seriously! Dell Taco sells a better Enchilada than this. If you want close to authenticate Mexican, and you can't go to Mexico or at least Mexican Village (downtown), then venture to restaurants with more authenticity like Mr. Miguels', Aztec, Mexico City (Van Dyke), El Charro of Troy ... or even Dell Taco!! Will I return? ...

My wife and I had a terrible experience at this restaurant yesterday. We have visited this place numerous times in the past, but the service was never this bad. First and foremost, we waited about 15 minutes once we were seated fore someone to take our order. Once the orders were placed, the food did come out quickly, so not much of an issue there. The problem came when I was almost finished with my plate, I discovered a long curly hair that was mixed in my rice. I immediately notified the waiter and showed him the hair. Upon seeing the hair, the waiter did not say anything nor did he apologize for the issue. I immediately asked for the bill. Upon receiving the bill, I noticed that I was being charged full price for my meal. I notified the manager about the situation and he said that they charged the full price because I had eaten most of my food. I told him he could have at least given a discount for the unsanitary hair that was found in my food, but I guess that was too much to ask. After going back and forth with the manager and waiter, they decided to comp my meal. I'm writing this review for two reasons: Please check your food BEFORE you eat to make sure that there are no hairs in it and to warn other customers about the potential service you could receive if you make a complaint. Needless to say, I won't be going to this...

Usually we have a very good experience with this restaurant but not today May 28 2021. I ordered the two taco dinner and ordered a 3rd taco from the side orders. My third Taco never came with my dinner I had to ask the waiter three times where is my third taco. My daughter ordered a side of sour cream with her meal and we never got it until the end of the meal.She ended up sharing my sour cream. What was the point of getting it at the end of the meal when her taquito was already finished. My husband ordered a taco salad which is his usual and this time the salad was wet and made the taco salad soggy but the salad shell was over done. My mother-in-law ordered fajitas and the meat was so overdone it was like eating crispy Critters. We were trying to be reasonable and not complain about everything only the overdone meat but they did not do anything to compensate us. They did not apologize or offer to re-cook the meal or discount our bill. They just handed us the receipt and walked away. I said out loud in the restaurant "they don't even care". I was very disappointed and unhappy and unsatisfied. I probably won't go back there and definitely will never recommend them again. Let's just say we gave them a very poor tip when we shouldn't of given...
