Houston TX Hot Chicken — Restaurant in Sterling Heights

Okay, so the food was pretty good. It was nice to be able to order the specific spice level for what you order. Highlights: Hands down, the best lemonade I've ever had in my life!

Not So High - Highlights:

I got a Cesar Salad, and let's just say I would have been better off ordering Chicken Strips or Nuggets because there was barely any lettuce or any salad item's, it was covered in the gigantic Chicken Nuggets that it comes with, which they were good. I ordered the "Mild", and they were mild as ordered. My daughters chicken sandwich was reportedly "really good," though she said it was about like a Culver's or Chick-fil-A's in comparison. So, although the item's were pretty good, they definitely were way overpriced for anything beyond a Chick-fil-A or Culver's meal. Which brings me to the horrible part of it. They were not that busy that it should have taken them almost 40-45 minutes for a salad, some fries, and a sandwich. It is deep fried chicken, I know at the most it's what 7-10 minutes to cook....and for our "trouble for waiting" (mind you I didn't say one word while waiting...I did watch several people come in, order & leave before we got our food...I did go up to the counter 1x to check if I needed to get something) before the lady brought us our lemonade, and still we waited. She said that she could give us a cookie...yeah my 1/2 hour is worth a lot more than a cookie lady, but I didn't care and was not in the mood to make an argument over something so trivial. So my daughter and I accepted our cookie monster cookies (which, by the way, are NOT good, don't waste any $$ on those things) If you want chicken something, go somewhere else. First time at HHC, visited the Sterling Heights, MI location! Atmosphere and ambiance was cool, with good music playing. The service was great, very helpful and knowledgeable! There was no wait and the food came up very quick! It was hot, fresh and absolutely delicious! I got the “house favorite” which came with an original chicken sandwich, 1 tender, seasoned fries and house sauce. You get to choose your own spice level, so I got the sandwich in mild and the tender in honey butter. I also ordered a side of pickles because who doesn’t love extra pickles. The chicken was crispy & juicy and the mild was just the right amount of spice for me. I sampled the “medium” tender and if you like spice you will love the spice throughout. The house sauce is soo good it definitely is the right balance with all the spice. Cant forget the chicken is halal, all natural, free range, never frozen! For a drink I chose the blueberry lavender lemonade, super refreshing, not too sweet. I was able to sample the other 2 lemonades as well (Cucumber watermelon & strawberry hibiscus) both were good, the cucumber watermelon was just as refreshing and the strawberry hibiscus is a little on the sweeter side if you like sweet. Overall my first experience was 10/10. I met the owner Bill and he was absolutely great! You can tell he cares about his business, going above and beyond for the customers. BEST CHICKEN IN THE WORLD. Houston Hot Chicken is OFF. THE. CHAIN! If you're a spice lover like me, you NEED to get yourself to this spot ASAP! Their Nashville-style hot chicken is CRISPY, JUICY, and PACKED WITH FLAVOR. The heat levels range from "Not So Nashville Hot" (for the faint of heart) to "Ghost Pepper" (for the daredevils), so you can choose your own adventure.

The portion sizes are generous, and the sides (like their creamy coleslaw and crispy fries) are perfection. But let's be real – the star of the show is the CHICKEN. It's marinated to perfection, and the breading is just right – not too thick, not too thin.

the atmosphere is casual, cozy, and has a fun vibe. The staff is friendly, and they know their stuff (ask them about the heat levels, and they'll hook you up with the deets).
