Well, here we go again!
It’s a rare occasion that I stumble upon two absolute gems in less than a month, but today, it happened again—this time at Roscoe’s Feed Shack in Stillwater, OK.
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Roscoe himself, who welcomed us with a warm “Welcome Home.” Now, I don’t know about you, but I’ve never heard that outside of my actual home, a family gathering, or returning from military service. That simple phrase told me everything I needed to know—this is a place that genuinely cares about its customers.
There’s no menu to browse—you get what’s available for the day. You can choose one entrée and two sides, two entrées and three sides, or go all-in with the AYCE option. Let me tell you, the two-meat, three-side option was more than this big guy could handle! I had: 🍗 Chicken quarter with Granny’s dressing 🥒 Chicken with squash 🌱 Black-eyed peas 🍠 Yams 🥣 Pozole
And it was all made from Roscoe’s grandmother’s recipes.
Roscoe himself checked on us several times, even bringing over turnip greens and cabbage to try. He took the time to share stories about the artwork covering the restaurant—photos of family, friends, and many Native American figures. Turns out, Roscoe spent years working for the Department of Indian Affairs, traveling the country, and his deep-rooted history shines through every inch of this place.
Just when I thought the experience couldn’t get any better, out came dessert—a Chocolate Birthday Cake with Cherry Jubilee Topping and a Banana Pudding Cake so legendary it belongs in the Smithsonian vault to ensure humanity never loses that recipe. Absolutely incredible!
I’ve never had an experience quite like this—where I felt like I was walking into a second home, treated like family by someone I had never met.
This place isn’t just a recommendation—it’s a MUST VISIT THIS YEAR. 💯

Read moreMy boyfriend and I tried it and it is straight southern cooking. Him and I shared an all you can eat since the plate is so big. When they say buffet, it's not like Golden Corral. You get a big plate, add as much meats and sides you want and can go back over and over again. It was kinda confusing at first but the staff were super helpful in explaining it :) They take your old plate and a fresh one for each round. My boyfriend is a foodie and he was devouring. For me the stuffing and the chicken (dark meat) really took the prize home 🙏🙏 The meat loaf and pork but is amazing according to my boyfriend. He is smacking his lips. We asked for a Togo box for our plate and we got one. It was very nice :) I got a pecan pie slice as my dessert and it is hands down best pie I've ever had. Now I'm picky when it comes to pecan pie, but guys this is the pie. The whip cream is home made, because it's so good and thicker than store bought. The pie is 🤤🤤. I believe they make everything here home made because this is a taste that can't be manufactured. They put their love into all their food. As in atmosphere, it amazing. Reminds me of my grandmothers house growing up, clean but cluttered with mementos and pictures which is just so nice to look at. A little taste of nostalgia. The bathroom is super clean and has art all over the walls. The service is amazing, they are very attentive and I never had an empty water for long nor plates after finished. Overall 10/10 this food is good for your soul. A MUST TRY. TBH people who said this is 1 star must be stupid or have no taste....

Roscoe was an amazing host. We went with the all-you-can-eat option, and he absolutely hooked it up! Each meal came with a salad, any and all the meats/sides/desserts that we wanted.
Meat options included meatloaf, pulled pork, roasted chicken, a spicy creole roasted chicken, meatballs, roasted beef tips, roasted pork loins, and a chicken and noodle dish. Sides included cornbread stuffing, sweet potato, scalloped potato, green beans, red beans, corn, baked beans, and corn bread muffins. Dessert was a trio of homemade cakes: a lemon cake with caramel sauce, a strawberry cake, and a chocolate/cherry cake.
Everything was phenomenal. The service was top notch as well. We got to talk with the owner, hear about the history of the business, the recipes, etc.
We even got to bring home probably two pounds of leftovers.
The cakes alone were worth the price of the meal. The several pounds of meat and sides were only a bonus. An amazingly delicious bonus. Overall, this might be the most bang for buck I’ve ever seen at a restaurant.
Do yourself a favor and come check it out. Give a Monday or Tuesday night a shot when they’re slower than the weekend crowds, and you can have an awesome in-depth experience with the owner. They even serve breakfast now, so we’ll be back soon to give a big ole southern breakfast a shot! We can’t wait for winter to hit so that we can come back when they get into the comfort foods like chicken ‘n dumplings.
