METAL WIRE FROM A FILTHY SCRUB BRUSH IN MY 7 YEAR OLDS SPAGHETTI!!!
Slap a bob on me and call me Karen cause I wanna talk to your manager.
Immediately when I walked in the place looked dingy. The windows and blinds at the tables clearly never get cleaned. I shrugged it off since our table APPEARED to be clean. I went to wash my hands in the women’s bathroom before eating and it was so disgusting in there. Obvious mold in the grout. Toilet coming apart from the floor. My boyfriend said there was no soap in the Men’s bathroom. 🤮 While waiting for our food the staff behind the counter were swearing and complaining about being scheduled on a day they didn’t want to work.
At this point I chose not to complain. We chose Angeies because we assumed we could save a little money by going to a pizza place rather than one of the super busy/ expensive tourist destinations. The prices were way up there. Close to $17 just for a wrap. When I grabbed my fork it still had someone’s leftover food in the prongs. I STILL DIDN’T complain. We got a skimpy portion of whole belly clams, a gyro and spaghetti with meatballs that barely had any sauce. The clams were okay but not great.
My 7 year old goes to hand me something and asked me what it was. It was a freaking dirty germ filled wire bristle from a scrub brush. I immediately brought it to our waitress and went straight into Karen mode and I don’t even feel bad about it. I’m completely livid. After a long day at the aquarium we went for a very late lunch. So having to explain to my 7 year old that he couldn’t finish his food was so difficult.
To the guy behind the counter that was wondering why this lady is so mad, that’s why. It’s incredibly rare for me to go out of my way to write a bad review, but this...
Read moreMy partner and myself, who aren't from the area, were on our lunch break & wanted to find a local place rather than the usual fast food. We happened to be driving by Angie's & thought that it looked promising, so in we went. We seated ourselves in a booth and were promptly attended to by our waitperson who supplied us with menus & took our order for drinks while we perused their offerings. I had initially thought about getting a pizza, but thought we might not have time since our break is only 30 minutes. So I ordered the "Black & Blue" burger platter (cajun blackened burger with blue cheese, lettuce & tomato, with fries & a side of coleslaw). I asked if I could add bacon to it, which our waitperson said was no problem. She also asked how I would like the burger, which always makes me happy- I'm a confirmed carnivore & like all my beef cooked medium rare whenever possible. My partner ordered the chicken parmesan sandwich platter, with fries and coleslaw also. The food arrived relatively quickly (about 15 minutes or so). My burger was quite tasty, and cooked exactly as I requested. My partner raved that his chicken parmesan sandwich was one of the best he had tried in quite some time. I asked our waitperson when I saw her again if we could have separate checks, which she said was no problem. My partner's came out right around $15 for his sandwich platter & drink, while mine was a little more (due to adding bacon) at around $17.50. All told, we were extremely happy with our food & service- about twenty bucks each (including gratuity), and quick enough that we were in & out in slightly over 30 minutes. So just about perfect! Would recommend to anyone looking for a reasonable sit down lunch or dinner option in downtown Mystic- two...
Read moreI would ordinarily give Angie's Pizza and Pier 27 an absolutely glowing review- until today.
I have gone there numerous times for happy hour and enjoyed myself tremendously. Unfortunately, I made the unforgivable mistake today of stopping in as a "single" on Mystic Irish Parade day. As soon as the bartender noted that I was by myself at a 4-top, when I would certainly have taken a seat at the bar by myself or a small 2-top, there was nothing else available (and I was there well ahead of the end-of-the-parade crowd).
Nevertheless, I got quite a look from the bartender and scolded a bit with, "We have a big crowd coming in, so…"
Not once in my life have I ever left a restaurant/bar and intentionally NOT left a tip due to how I was treated by a server or anyone in the establishment. Today was another first....
Ironically hours earlier, I was singing along to "you ought to try Angie's, where the locals lay it down," but you might as well go to "little Mystic Pizza that Hollywood found." NEVER thought I would say this- because I love the happy hour and seeing local talent perform there- but the Almighty dollar is all that rules in Mystic, Connecticut, even at Angie's Pizza & Pier 27. I will never spend another DIME...
