Such a lovely little bakery with baked goods galore as well as a few baskets and even plates of cookies. Also is a deli and catering service.
The hummingbird cupcakes looked so absolutely delightful that I was tempted into buying it. One of the ladies behind the counter told me how scrumptious it was. And I believed her - especially after I took the teensiest of tastes just for this review. I have seldom eaten such a tender cake. It almost melted in my mouth! And perfect - not too sweet. Yes, a divine creation!
A sticky roll half each was greedily eaten by me and hubby. Again, perfect! The exact perfect amount of sugar so it wasn't sickeningly sweet nor not sweet enough. And very evident that these were a non-commercial dough as the subtle preservative flavor was absent. The crumb on the sticky rolls was just right, too!
The last baked item sampled was a giant croissant. While not a croissant of Paris boulangeries, still a nice American substitute. Recommendation: eat soon after you buy. The paper bag allows these to dry. But just spritz with water (not too much!) and put in the oven to somewhat imitate the fresh from the oven taste. Just remember to split before you put them in, not after.
The garlic hummus was delish, too. Again, just right - not too garlicky but not too little. And what was really appreciated is that Melissa, the store manager (owner?) was a dear and had a little container of crudités made up for me even though these were something usually available only through catering.
And, yes, the case had some salads and fruit bowls out, the latter which I got. Somewhat better than those offered in the store. Mainly melon, but strawberries and grapes.
Now, this was not cheap. But it felt good to support a local business which had just hired at least two of the people behind the counter, including the cashier. (Melissa was patiently coaching them which is how I could tell.) Perhaps this was a bit why the line moved a bit slowly.
The outside is not too welcoming as there is a pit of roped off gravel and what appears to be somewhat of a makeshift ramp. But the ramp is sturdy and would theoretically let those in wheelchairs in, though I do wonder if they would be able to navigate once inside. Anyway, despite that small detail, nothing should deter you from patronizing this...
Read moreRepeat customer aiming to purchase a few specialty items each visit to bring home and enjoy with tea. I returned for the humongous crème puff filled with Bavarian crème. The shell was tasty and love the filling. $6.75, worth every bite. I decided on the mini Rum Cake and asked the young man (Laney?) what the inside consisted of and he handed me apiece of paper with details. It can be a surprise! I was disappointed in the way the icing immediately fell away from the cake portion which leaves me to believe the cakes are made and stored in cooler for a long period and not made fresh. Also, there was no rum flavor or taste. For $11 it missed the mark. I’ll definitely scratch that cake off the list and try something else. If I do need a cake, I’ll ask the details about the cakes’ freshness. The interior is like a wonderland of all things super related wrapped and ready to purchase same day: biscotti, cookies Linzer tortes, whoopie pis, jarred jams, jellies, candies plus the center sitting area to chill and order something from the counter or from the 4 refrigerated coolers with salads, soup, specialty items. Special shout out to Kadaesha 🌷for...
Read moreBeen a long time customer for 10 plus years. It’s been about a month since I have been to the establishment. I went in with my 4 year daughter to buy a special cake for my husband her father for Father’s Day. Upon walking in I was greeted by an employee asking me if I wanted to wear a mask. I declined. She stated they require. I stated cdc states if vaccinated no mask I haven’t worn a mask to any store in Stroudsburg or even New York in a month or so. She then proceeded to state no and I said read what governor wolf has stated plus they are still on the 4 ppl rule when wolf has lifted all restrictions in PA. She then stated my 4 year old also needed a mask I stated my 4 year old hadn’t worn a mask once during this whole thing and will not start now. I refused and said I will no longer support your establishment anymore. I was preparing to spend almost 100.00 in there and been a long time customer and never again. I did say what will you do when mask mandate is lifted on June 28?! Someone who is all bout rules sure doesn’t even know the current “rules”...
