My wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Akashi Hibachi, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Right from the moment we arrived, everything was smooth and enjoyable. First off, the parking was great. Not only was there ample parking, but they also had dedicated spots for handicap access, which was thoughtful. When we walked in, we were pleasantly surprised that there was no wait at all. The restaurant wasn’t full, so we were seated almost immediately, which was a great start to the evening. The interior of Hibachi is modern and inviting. The ambiance was perfect for a relaxing meal, with soft music playing in the background that added to the chill vibe. The layout was spacious, and there were more than enough seats, giving us plenty of room to settle in and enjoy our time. Our server, Maria, deserves special mention. She was incredibly cordial and professional, attending to us with just the right amount of attentiveness. Maria checked in periodically to make sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive, which we really appreciated. The food was a highlight. It arrived relatively quickly, and every dish was delicious. Our drinks were equally impressive—fresh and perfectly mixed, adding a nice touch to the whole experience. Despite all we ordered, the prices were very affordable, making this one of the best value-for-money meals I’ve had in a while. All in all, Hibachi provides a great dining experience with its excellent service, delicious food, and chill atmosphere. It wasn’t crowded, which made the entire experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal, and I’ll definitely be returning soon.

After months of patiently waiting, I was delighted to find out that this location has finally opened. I have frequented many of their sister locations in the past, but with this one being less than five minutes from my home, I no longer have to travel 20+ minutes to indulge in Asian food of this caliber. First Impressions: The restaurant itself is exceptionally clean, and workers can be seen sanitizing the surfaces immediately after customers leave their table. The interior design and decor choice is very modern, sleek, and luxurious. The utensils and dinnerware are also very sleek and modern. Lastly, the customer service was top notch, and everybody from the front of house staff to the hibachi chefs provided excellent customer service with a smile. Food Quality: There is nothing wrong with craving a quick Asian -or Asian inspired- meal every now and then. But when drive throughs won’t cut it, Akashi is there to save the day. Nothing on the menu can be classified as low quality, as all dishes are prepared with high quality ingredients and presented with care. Meals are flavorful, balanced, and don’t leave you with the typical “food coma” associated with Asian cuisine. Their lunch specials also stand out, as there is a surprisingly large selection of regular menu items available in lunch portions. Prices for both lunch and dinner plates are surprisingly affordable for the quality and portion size. Dishes pictured are Dragon & Phoenix, Crunchy Lisa Roll, and Teriyaki Chicken. Do yourself a favor and stop on by this location, you will not regret it.

This is my second time here. I had a Chirashi Sushi. It’s VERY REASONABLE at $28. These fish slices are folded so it may look smaller. I had Blue-fin Tuna, Madai and smoked salmon. The tuna comes in two parts, Akami and Chutoro. The Madai is properly served with the skin on. It gives you the sweetness. The salmon is French smoked in- house and that has the perfect flavor not overpowering the harmony of the bowl. What more? The wasabi is grated, not made from the powder. The Kampyo (brown root dish with the pickles) is also house cooked and he does it right without using too much sugar! This is a totally hidden gem in Katy/Richmond area. You might be wondering if the chef Aki was trained in Japan ;) Yes, he learned his trade in Fukuoka. I’ll definitely come back when I’m in this area. I want to point out that Chirashi is a sort of catch-of-the-day dish. Chef will pick what he has on the day but the quality should be consistent. I also need to mention the rice is also properly done ver al dente. The chef had to cook rice everyday when he started the apprenticeship.

The manager and staff service here are AWFUL with the worst attitudes. Got salmon nigiri for our kids and they brought it out with wasabi in between the rice and salmon. When we addressed it, as our kids could not stomach the heat and we’ve never had nigiri with wasabi wedged in between the rice and meat, they told us that’s how they do it in Japan. They then continue to tell us that if they were to remake it, they’d charge us for the new order on top of the order WE DIDN’T EAT. so we told the manager to come out and she laughs in our face saying this is how every restaurant around the area does it and made sure we knew she worked at Nobu so she obviously knows way more than anyone in the surrounding area. (Mind you I was just at Ninja sushi down the rode three days ago. AMAZING SERVICE and no wasabi on the nigiri for kids. Go visit them!!)

The manager then still continues to tell us we will be paying for it even though everything was left on the tray because our kids couldn’t eat the wasabi! The server was at the side huffing and puffing the whole time we were going back and forth…. Which let’s not get started on the fact she couldn’t bring anyone in the restaurant a refill at the time.

Good luck remaining successful with insufferable employees who were bad enough that several people left while overhearing and having their own complaints. Feel bad for the owner who tried to make things right but when THAT manager and server are the frontline, you...
