AN Beauty Salon — Local services in Sugar Land

Update: I recently visited AN Beauty Salon for what was meant to be a balayage treatment but ended up being a debacle of unmet expectations and poor service.

My appointment, scheduled for a balayage, turned into an hours-long ordeal of highlights, stretching from 3 PM until midnight. It was evident the stylist, who admitted to only a few months of experience, lacked the expertise for the requested service.

Moreover, despite the long hours, the desired color wasn't achieved. The promised conditioning treatment was postponed to a later date due to time constraints. However, when I returned as agreed, the owner, An, failed to honor the appointment.

Instead, another staff member attended to me, attempting to levy an additional $50 charge, claiming it was for 'curling', a service I never requested. After disputing this unexpected fee, the salon begrudgingly reduced it to $25 but insisted on charging for a service I didn't want or agree to.

The entire experience left me feeling taken advantage of, with unnecessary charges and unprofessional conduct. I caution anyone considering this salon for their services. The salon seems inclined to overcharge customers and is unapologetic when confronted, giving the impression they're doing clients a favor by rectifying their own mistakes.

I strongly advise against patronizing them for any service, given their propensity to upcharge without consent and their dismissive attitude towards customer concerns.

After used their services about 6-7 times at this location, this last time was the most disappointing service I have ever received from any establishment in Houston. Specifically, we have only gone to have a haircut (without washing) for my mother and my little son. Of course we already had the prices for each service, however I always consult to avoid surprises later. This last time my mother got a haircut (without washing) and Ann tried to charge me $10 extra than the usual price, the excuse was that she has a lot of hair. I told her that we have always come with the same hair status and the price was always like that, to which she responded that she washed her hair and I told her that she didn’t get any wash, and then without knowing how to defend the reason for the price, She said that she is the manager and know the prices. Like I was lying about prices? Anyway my mom was in the middle of cutting her hair so we just wanted to get this all over with and leave. After insisting on the price, she said that we will pay what we indicated but she will not do the drying or brushing of the hair. We had no choice and we accepted because there was a fear that she would do a bad job. The stars on reviews don't really reflect what it is, many times they leave you halfway through work because a new client came, they send another worker who has no idea what you were up to, they start talking almost shouting while they do the work for you. Despite all the negative things, we continued to serve there since my son loved how the young worker cut his hair. I’ve tried this place 3 times. I was incredibly upset from the day they worked on my hair but respectfully waited a long time before deciding to write this review, hoping I could repair the damage they caused. But there’s never a day I regret ever giving them a chance for the simple root touch up I asked for. First of all, they don’t respect your appointment time. I’m a very patient person, so it’s not a problem to wait when I expected the owner to do my hair with good results. Wrong. After waiting an hour for her to come because she “didn’t know” I had an appt with her, she had 2-3 other techs work on me under her instructions. She had to constantly come over to correct their technique, and the one of the tech was clueless in what she was doing. She was TEACHING THEM and telling them what to do during my session.

See pictures, I NEVER asked to bleach almost my entire head especially my ends. They layered the bleach on TWICE. I made it clear that I am NOT going for a blonde look. The whole process wasted so much of my time because the techs kept going back and forth from one customer to another; it took the whole day. I was so devastated when I saw the end result; see photos of the white dots/split ends and breakage. I’ve never had split ends like this in my life.
