Horrible experience. Food was too spicy, the servers were nice but some random manager came over and told me to tell my young kids not to touch the wallpaper. My kid wasn’t even doing anything and this man came over and insulted us. I am going to make sure everyone in this area knows how bad this experience was. The only authentic piece about this place is how cheap and dirty this place was.
Also beware, we tipped based on a decent server and found out after we left they add a tip automatically. Went back and told them and they were being argumentative. I can’t believe these kinds of people exist in a great area like this.
Update: my sister forgot her keys in the restaurant and had to go back to get it. The manager asked to clear things up. No apology but seemed like he saw the review. He said kids cause a lot of damage. So basically this place isn’t kid friendly - they should put up signs that say no kids allowed. My child is not even 2 years old and can barley reach the wall. What a loser for saying what he did. There are ways to say things and the manager really doesn’t know how to handle situations. Hopefully when this place shuts down, an educated restauranteur opens up a place that aligns with the family friendly area this is.
Edit 2 in response to the owner:
This response is wrong on so many levels. I have never seen a restaurant stoop so low to publicly lie about an experience that a customer had. We clearly indicated in our order that we needed all items to be completely mild. What we received from your kitchen was food that was so spicy that it was practically inedible. We don’t believe in wasting food so we didn’t send it back, but not once did we inform your servers that there were no complaints to the spice level. My sister never indicated that she did not enjoy the Bombay bhel - that wasn’t even her order. She had indicated that all the food on our order was extremely spicy. We shouldn’t have to mention this after the food comes out, as it was already requested to make the food mild from the beginning. So serving us a whole new set of dishes again would waste both food and time. You say that it is normal for your team to verbally mention the 20% tip when it comes time to make payment, but your team failed to do this, and even acknowledged the failure to do so. If you were to mention this, there is no way she would have tipped on top of the 20%, because of how bad the experience was. Your accusations about scraping the walls with your dining utensils is completely false, to the point that it is slander, worse than the other lies you have told in your comment. My children did no such thing - they merely touched your wallpaper, to which someone from your team came and told us to tell him not to touch the wallpaper - there was no mention of scraping it because that is simply untrue. If your precious wallpaper is more valuable than your customers, particularly families, then you should not be in the restaurant business. My sister could not understand why several employees were swarming her to ask about the missing keys. She simply wanted to return to the place she was sitting to retrieve them. She even mentioned that she personally knew the person who was sitting in her spot at the table and could simply ask him if she could retrieve the key, to which she was told that she was not allowed to do so. You are the last people who should be commenting on etiquette. This restaurant is classless, overpriced, and the food is far worse than mediocre. If anyone wants to have heartburn and diarrhea from food, while also having their children insulted, I would definitely recommend Nirmanz. If not, stay away from this restaurant. I will also advise everyone I know (as a resident and member of the South Asian community here) to do the same - this restaurant does not deserve our business. This restaurant seems to be good at lying and...
Read moreIn 2021, during my parents’ first visit to the US, we dined at Nirmanz Food Boutique’s Sugar Land location and were thoroughly impressed. Recently, we decided to explore their Richmond branch, and once again, Nirmanz exceeded our expectations.
Richmond location offers a pure vegetarian menu, set in a modern fusion cuisine environment with street cart-style dishes. The decor is vibrant and cheery, creating a cozy yet trendy atmosphere adorned with Indian artwork.
Menu is a delightful fusion of traditional Indian flavors with contemporary twists. We began with the Tandoori Malai Chaap—six pieces of marinated soya chaap grilled in a clay oven for $15—and the Basket Chaat, also six pieces for $10. Both appetizers were flavorful and well-presented. For our main courses, our group of six ordered a variety of dishes: Schezwan Noodles ($16): A spicy Indo-Chinese fusion dish that was both tangy and savory. Amritsari Kulcha Cholay ($14): Fluffy bread stuffed with seasoned potatoes, served with a robust chickpea curry. Cheese Masala Dosa ($14): A crispy rice crepe filled with a spicy potato mixture and melted cheese, offering a delightful blend of textures. Dhuadhar Chaap ($18): We couldn’t resist this soya chaap cooked in a rich onion-tomato gravy, which was aromatic and satisfying. Paneer Moghlai Curry ($16): Soft paneer cubes in a nutty, creamy sauce that was both indulgent and comforting. Tandoori Roti ($3 each) and Garlic Naan ($4 each).
While the prices are on the higher side relative to portion sizes, the exceptional taste and quality make it worthwhile.
The staff was attentive and efficient, ensuring our dining experience was pleasant from start to finish.
Overall, Nirmanz Food Boutique in Richmond offers a memorable dining experience with its delectable vegetarian fare, inviting ambiance, and commendable service. It’s a place worth revisiting and highly recommended for those seeking authentic Indian flavors with a...
Read moreA burst of Flavors! Authentic Rajasthani tastes with no fusion. The owner is a trained Chef and runs this restaurant to exacting standards. Food, decor and atmosphere are all in harmony. The full house was testament to this.
The menu is extensive, so going with a larger group is advised if you want to try a lot of the offerings.
We had Indian Street Food for appetizers. Bombay Bhel, followed by their Boutique selection of 3 Vada Pau ( potato and vegetable fritters sliders) garnished with three different chanteys each with it's own unique taste. The cutlets served in a Paratha is something unique we've never had before and the Pani Puri with Six different Pani flavors from Watermelon to Mint were really good.
We tried the paneer sizzler which was served with grilled sweet peppers and onions. It tasted really good. I must admit it would have added a little more sizzle to the presentation if it came out on the sizzler plate.. not disappointed though!
Biryani was served in a deep bowl covered by a flour roti to keep it hot just like India ! Deep flavors and extreme aromas of fresh cinnamon and spices floated out of this rice dish and filled the senses. Another Paneer curry with garlic naan fresh from the tandoor and we were stuffed!
The host served up Sikandh a yogurt based desert that was whipped light and fluffy and lightly sweet. Everyone loved it along with the Gulab Jamans.. by now too full to stand up, we took a couple of items to go. Daal makhani and some butter naan.
I highly recommend this authentic Vegetarian restaurant with unique flavors. Well worth the drive out to...
