**Updating to 5 stars: Visited this restaurant again yesterday, Wednesday, May 28th, because my bestie had a gift card. I guess training has been stepped up and I love it! From the moment, we walked in, we were greeted by everyone! The atmosphere was inviting and warm. The food was perfection this time around! We ordered the Hopdoddy Melt, parmesan truffle brussel leaves (which weren't oily and perfectly fried), and nacho fries (seasoned to perfection)! The server and manager came and checked on us several times which was very refreshing! Ok, you've redeemed yourself Hopdoddy! Hopefully it can stay this way and I'll be a forever customer!
I've waited on leaving a review because I understand how opening a new business will take you through growing pains. However, after 3 visits, here goes!
Grand Opening - We were excited for being 1st in line to experience all the great things we heard about Hopdoddy. However, after getting in and being seated we were met with an extremely rude server who seemed to be doing everything in her power to get is to leave so others could come in. Despite the fact that we were still waiting for particular burgers to be bright around, she told us that we should take what we can get at the moment. Even the table behind us was shocked at the level of customer service being received. *Also won the contest for the year supply of burger but couldn't even get them to respond. Manager at restaurant a couple weeks later stated he didn't know what we were talking about. Just ridiculous!!!
2nd visit - Same thing... good food but horrible service!
3rd visit - Table we were sent to was dirty. We got someone's attention and the first thing out of the guys mouth was, "I'm only one person...I can't do everything!" My friend and I just looked at each other like wow! Bought the boozy shake but had very little whiskey in it and was overly sweet. Ordered the truffle Brussel sprout leaves and the oil was pooled in the bowl... just disgusting!
3rd time was the charm... I'm not going back. They really need to work through the kinks and provide more training to the staff!
Update: Still no contact from restaurant. However, I gave them another chance and the server William was amazing! He was the first and only server there that has given us quality customer service!!! He deserves a raise! The burger was salty but hey the service made up for it this time! Hats off to...
Read moreArrived early Wednesday evening 05/14/25 to pick up a to-go order. The place was moderately busy. To my disappointment, I waited over 5 minutes before anyone even ACKNOWLEDGED I was standing at the pick up counter. There were two order takers and they were busy taking orders. There seemed to be no one to assist with take out orders. There must not have been any managers on duty because this was clear avoidance. “We’ll get to you when we can. Can’t you see we’re busy? Just wait!” mentality. The expediter behind the cashiers eventually said something my way. Didn’t make me feel taken care of or that anyone cared. There was no sense of urgency whatsoever. The expediter put the two burgers in containers and set them aside. When the fries came, the expediter set them with the burgers, but still did not bag for me. The expediter told one of the cashiers to bag for me while she leaned against the counter and did nothing. The cashiers had been busy and I don’t fault them, other than it’s helpful to be acknowledged when a patron is there to pick up. The more I thought about it, the more I felt unappreciated as a customer. The expediter (who was less busy than the cashiers,) should have stepped up to do a job no one else was doing. To be ignored like I didn’t even exist, is unacceptable. There’s a lack of understanding where the money comes from that pays the workers and maybe the cat was away and the mice don’t care. Why not acknowledge the customer so that we don’t feel invisible?? It’s disrespectful and dismissive. Not...
Read moreWOW! We were excited to come here after only visiting the Rice Village location, when we lived out there. However the service was AWFUL there hostess was not at her post when we walked in so we proceeded to the dine in line and our 9year old immediately went searching for a table. She found a booth and sat there.
We asked the hostess if we could sit there considering the booths were occupied by parties of 2 and 4 people and the larger party of 6 was leaving. It was 3pm and not very busy but when we I reached out to the hostess to ask if we could remain at the booth she said those had to be open for larger parties. When I asked her about the size of the other parties she really did not have much to say other than well the smaller booths were taken so they sat there. Same situation we were in. Anyway…we decided to leave and go somewhere else that provided better service. We were going to come back with a group of neighbors but certainly not to this place! I am saddened for the owner who really is trying to deliver the best experience but some of the employees are just ruining it.
We like to support local businesses but good service is important in a...
