I've been to this particular establishment a few times and the franchise a handful of times before.
Usually for a sit-down restaurant I will rate mostly based on quality of food and service in relation to price point.
This most recent visit on a Sunday a little after 7pm was slightly disappointing for me.
I'm going to start with the food here; Firstly, I will point out that the bread and salad were on point. The Texas 'Tonion' appetizer was ordered which I had to mention to our server because our main entree's came out with no appetizer ever having been delivered to our table. He acted surprised, and informed us that it was left sitting cold on the kitchen wait area and he kindly had a fresh one ordered that arrived a little after we had already started digging into the main course. Appetizer was good albeit quite salty.
For my main entree I ordered the 'Nolan Ryan' Beef Fried Steak and boy did it strike me out. In hindsight maybe it is my fault for my selection at a 'steakhouse'. Rarely will I send back food at a sit down restaurant but I was pretty close to it after my first bite, inevitably I decided to soldier on.
The beef fried steak was not a good cut of meat, overly fatty, and quite a bit overcooked. Lots of chewing action going on. The battered coating was probably the best part of the fried steak but it also was quite a bit too salty for my taste. Even way more than the Texas 'Tonion' appetizer. I will say the portion was satisfactory. It's just unfortunate that I really didn't enjoy the main course. My side of fries and mashed potatoes were satisfactory though, but nothing to write home about.
As far as the food goes, I would say the Texas 'Tonion' was the best part of the meal, but I could probably interchange that with the bread and starter salad, which is quite disappointing in my book.
My only guest got the Prime Rib and their comment was that the entree was good but a great suggestion they had was that they should warm/heat the plate because the steak was cold by the time they were finishing the meal. It should be noted that the guest is not what I would call a picky eater.
The service was decent. The restaurant was not busy, so the waiter was able to keep tending to our table well enough. Our waiter was kind in general and relatively prompt. Checked up on our table about 3 times during the course of the meal. Points for the fresh appetizer, although I suspect it would have been bad service to deliver us the cold appetizer and would have been a knock on the quality of said service.
Overall, I would give the food a 2 on this trip for me and the service a 3. In general I wasn't very happy with my total experience this time, especially considering the price paid. Better luck next time I guess, might be a...
Read moreMy experience here is definitely one to remember. By far the worst experience I have ever had! 1st off I am Gluten, dairy & soy free I information the waitress, I confirm with her that she understands that it means no butter, soy oils.... She replies back to me that they have buttons for that. I order the lemon garlic chicken with steamed broccoli and asparagus.
When the food comes out. My whole plate is smothered in butter. I look at the waitress and tell her there's butter on my food. She shrugs her shoulders and tells me that's how it comes. So, I ask to speak with the manager. Manager comes over, I tell her what happened. She looks at my plate and point out that everything has butter. She tells me she'll go talk to the kitchen and starts to walk off, I let her know she can take the plate with her because I won't be eating it. Manager comes back tells me that the everything is cooked with butter but the kitchen made it without the butter. The waitress poured the butter on my meal and when the kitchen guy told her not to because of the dairy allergy the waitress responded that she knows and poured the butter over the food.
So I ask the manager if they can remake the food? She tells me they can because it won't be the same meal, but I can pick something else. She'll get me a steak. I inform her I don't want a steak, I want what I ordered without the butter this time. She again tells me they can't make it because it comes with butter and it won't be the same meal. I say ok I don't want anything. Because I can't trust that it will be made for me. The manager then tells me that she'll bring the kitchen guy out to prove it was the waitress and that I can trust her and the kitchen. Again I tell her No I don't want anything I'm done. So then the manager REPEATEDLY and loudly starts saying how she feels bad for me. My friend has now stated that we won't be eating here at all now and we're ready to go. Then the manager offers me an alcoholic beverage. I inform the manager I don't drink. The manager then starts the tell me I do to much. No alcohol that's just to much!
I laughed my way out of the restaurant baffled at the whole experience.
I will...
Read moreWe decided to celebrate Mothers Day with our mom a day early so all her kids could be there. We decided Longhorn would be great. When we arrived at 4pm and let them know there were 12 people we were surprised to hear them tell us "we do not seat parties larger than 8" and that we would have to sit apart. We accepted this and waited. There was a large party already seate and it was about 16 people at a large table. Again we were surprised that we could not sit together because it was "a rule" and when we were finally seated they put 8 of us at a table for 6 and 5 others in a booth. We were in the same area so again we sat to order. We also notice after we were seated that just to the side near the bathrooms there were some large tables put together. We asked and were told NO, that the tables were to be pulled apart to seat smaller parties. We ordered dinner and enjoyed our meal together and our waitress, Shenice (spelled wrong i'm sure) took the best care she could it was difficult because she had the tables apart. At a point a little later we noticed that a large party of over 20 people were then seated at the tables we asked about, WOW was all I could think. After we ate, and paid our bill, I asked to speak to the GM, was told they were in the kitchen and that I could call or email. As we were leaving I noticed the GM up front and asked to speak to her. She reluctantly spoke to me and attempted to apologize and say that the others were wrong to have seated the large parties while we had to dine apart. I understand that if its a rule then ok, but to be told its a rule and then watch larger parties get to sit together in front of our faces was not cool. The apology from the GM was terrible. If you want to sit together and are part of a large party DO NOT GO HERE. The food was good, our waitress was great and we did take care of her but the GM should be ashamed of her answer and the way her...
