I have shopped a Bel before and therefore, decided to give it another try. However, it turns out that things have changed a lot since I last made a purchase here. Due to my recent experiences with Bel, I have decided to move away and partner with another retailer for my home furnishings needs.
The delivery time between a purchase and delivery is now 3-4 weeks. This means that you will make a payment at the time of purchase and the funds will be transferred to a company account. However, as a customer, while you have already made a payment, you will not receive your items for up to 3-4 weeks later. The reason is clear as it is designed as a cost savings measure by reducing the number of deliveries to benefit the company at the expense of the customer. This is inconsistent with my expectations as a customer.
Bel does not have the highest level of quality control in their furniture delivery and tend to deliver defective and damaged items with a high degree of frequency. While this may be okay is it is supported by an effective customer service department, this is another area that left longing for more. Their customer service is very disrespectful and not willing to offer any real solutions. This is seeming to support the interest of the company at the expense of customers, as offering no real solution will result in a financial benefit for the company.
I also found the upper administration to be out of tune with the needs of the customer and not willing to engage or offer any real solutions. Things used to be better with this company but recently have taken a completely different turn. I guess these things do happen and as a customer, you just have to deal with it and consider alternative options.
Update: I had an opportunity to speak with the Regional Manager and everything made so much more sense. I was informed that Bel secures unwanted furniture from national retailers at a discounted price and then pass it onto their customer. This is their business practice. Once I heard about it, everything made sense. The things I was frustrated and unhappy about, were actually normal business practices at Bel.
I wanted a few defective pieces exchanged. The Regional Manager refused to do so. He offered a much cheaper option that benefit Bel, service repair. I had no choice but to accept. I reached out to the Regional Manager to ensure the service tech comes to my house with the necessary parts for the service repair - I did so several times and reminded the Regional Manager - he assured me that he has taken care of it. The day of the service call, which was scheduled weeks away, the service tech shows up without the parts he needs for the repair.
Bel is truly a degraded organization! I have never seen such an ineffective Regional Manager in my entire...
Read moreThe sales people are great and the furniture here is good . My review is with the Indian lady in the front that takes payment . I went Saturday morning cause I had called twice already to see what was going on with a claimant they woukd tell me they would call me back and never did. I had a claim with the insurance to replace my chairs from my dining table . I went straight to her counter and told her why I was there she told me they had fix the problem and told me what the total would be. I asked her why was it that much if I was only paying the difference. I then got on the phone to call My husband to confirm the amount to see if it was right and he said it shouldn't be that high. That when we told me I needed to hang up the phone cause she was talking to me . We finally agreed on the amount then we were talking about the delivery date .so I told her when was the soonest and she said she would check so I told her I had to call my husband cause his schedule is more flexible and he works by the house , she then said no Ma'am someone has to be there. I told her I know , will they call before they go, and she said they call u in the morning and give u a time frame . But we don't Guarantee a certain time. I told her ok he will be there . When she was Charging me she told me the total and said give me you card. After she took payment she said they would be picking up the table and chairs and I told her all the insurance approved was the 6 chairs and she said no we need the whole dining table our store doesn't sale just the chairs . I'm told her so If I just can't come in to this store to buy chairs I can't . she said no!!. She said Mama we are doing u favor , I laughed and said how are you doing me a favor if I'm paying . At that point I was just ready to leave . She gave me my receipt and I left . There was a young lady that works in the front with her that heard the conversation . Read moreI have never been more thoroughly disappointed in the customer service of any other company I have ever dealt with. I went in to my local Bel Furniture to find myself a new desk for my office. I found one that suited all my needs and purchased it that same day. Given the price and the look of the product, I assumed I was getting a quality piece of furniture. I then had to drive all the way to their Katy furniture distribution center to pick it up. The next day my husband and I brought our "BRAND NEW" desk into our apartment and as I unboxed it, I noticed blatant damage on one of the supporting pieces of wood under one of the drawers. I immediately took pictures, didn't continue putting it together, boxed the desk backup, and reached out to the store to inform them of the situation. My husband and I return to the store to try and get a full refund since we both anticipate the quality of any of that same type of desk to be just as bad and we were met with two options. We could either drive all the way back to the distribution center to exchange it for another desk of the same type or trade it for the one they had on display. When looking at their display desk it was broken in the exact same place as my brand new one and the manager/sales representative of the store informed us that "it was because since it's the display they move it around a lot." Goes to show you that their quality control at this company is good for nothing and now I'm going to be stuck in a cycle for God knows how long trying to exchange this same desk for one that isn't broken. I will never do business with them ever again and if I could I would give them no stars at all. Never trust big box stores. You're better off thrifting something of better quality than they could ever provide! Beware of their "return policy" that's how they trap you into crappy pieces...
