It’s taken me 3 weeks to get on here and write this review because I’ve been contemplating on how to handle this. As someone who works in the food industry, I know how important social media and reviews can be to a thriving small business.
I discovered Treesome Natural Foods as I was walking by on Collins Ave the night before with family who live in Sunny Isles. I looked Treesome up on google the next day to see what they were all about. Healthy eats, organic whole foods, gluten free options, juice bar, and cute atmosphere. It was right up my alley. Took a drive over around 12:30pm on New Year’s Day. It was packed, which is always good for a business so it didn’t bother me that I had to wait in line a little longer to order. I ordered a gluten free hawaiian wrap and a JJs lemonade. Paid around $32 including tax and tip. I added extra cash to their tip jar too, since I appreciated how hard the staff was working. I stepped aside and waited 20 minutes for my order. Walked over to the counter to gently ask if it was ready. Nope, another 15 minutes. Ok. Walked over again and a different girl at the counter tried telling me it was going to be another 20 minutes. I stated that I had already waited over a half hour for A WRAP. There’s no way I’m waiting another 20 minutes for it. Please see what you could do. She went to someone in the kitchen and came back with my wrap within 5 minutes. I thanked her and left.
Brought it all the way home, bit into it and immediately realized it was not a gluten free wrap. Luckily for Treesome, I do not have celiacs. Although, I do have a gluten intolerance. (There goes my healthy eating!) Anyway, I decided I would only eat half. After all, I did just spend $40 and 60 minutes out of my day for a wrap and lemonade. But besides that, it was the driest thing I ever ate. Flavorless. The only thing that brought it to life was the little tiny cup of teriyaki sauce I was able to drizzle on 3 drops per bite. The lemonade was good.
Went about my week, and randomly looked at my bank statement. Only to see that I was charged $45.76 by “Juice and Java Sunny Isles Beach Florida.” I thought, hmmm where the heck is that? I didn’t spend $45 at a place called juice and java. I only ordered takeout once last weekend and it was like 30 bucks at that treesome place. I looked up juice and java on google and sure enough, they’re the same place. Now I was thinking, hmmm? How did that happen? I didn’t sign for $45 I know for a fact it was $32 and change. Because my bill was $30 and change + $2 cc tip. So that comes out to $32 and change. Hmmmm… she couldn’t have. Noooo she wouldn’t have added… No, no way. Did the girl at the counter really alter my $2 cc tip to a $12 cc tip. Yup, she absolutely did.
So all in all, between cash and cc, 53 dollars of mine was wasted on a 60 minute, subpar, dry, unsatisfactory, deceitful, illegal and fraudulent wrap... and lemonade.
It didn’t stop there. I called Treesome on January 9th to discuss this with whom I had hoped would be a manager or an owner. I was put on hold faster than I could say hello. I hung up, called again. Hung up, called again. Probably happened 5 times. Finally, I was able to ask for a manager quickly enough and the girl on the phone sounded oddly familiar. She asked why I was asking for a manager and I told her my reasoning. She put me on a 5 minute hold just to come back and say there was no manager or owner present. I hung up and tried again several days later and went through the same exact process. I figured she was holding out and was probably straight up lying to me because she was guilty. So, I momentarily gave up and told myself that unfortunately I’d have to write about it online for it to get any attention. So hear I am.
It’s unfortunate that my words will probably have a negative impact on future customers of yours, but it’s even more unfortunate that money was stolen from me by one of your workers. If this happened to me, I’m sure it’s happened to other customers as well. Treesome, you are now a...
Read moreWe used to come to this café regularly with my one-year-old daughter and our dog, and it was never an issue. However, our recent visit was deeply disappointing.
We came for lunch, and although there were only two other people in the entire café, we were told we couldn’t sit at a larger table because those were “for big parties only.” There were three of us, yet we were seated at a small, uncomfortable table.
Shortly after, someone came over and told us dogs were not allowed inside — despite the fact that I’ve been coming here for a year with my dog and never had any problems. I told them that if dogs are no longer welcome, that should be clearly stated at the entrance, not after a customer has already placed their order.
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place anymore. The staff was rude and unaccommodating, and I won’t be returning until there’s a change in management or personnel.
P.s. My dog barked once, she did not continue barking as you claim. I was not only asked to leave with my dog — I was asked to leave with my one-year-old child in the middle of lunch, and into the rain. That’s unacceptable. If dogs are not allowed inside, that needs to be clearly posted at the entrance, not enforced arbitrarily after an order has been placed. I’ve been a loyal customer for over a year and always brought my dog without any issues. Suddenly changing the rules — and then misrepresenting the situation publicly — speaks volumes. We all deserve to be treated with basic respect, especially mothers with small children.
Let me be clear — your version of events is simply not true. My dog barked once when I stepped away to wash my hands. That’s hardly “out of control.” I did not scream, I calmly expressed frustration after I was asked to leave with my one-year-old child and dog, in the rain, halfway through our meal. There was no visible sign at the entrance stating dogs aren’t allowed. If your policy changed, it’s your responsibility to communicate that before customers order — not afterwards. If I had known, I would have simply chosen a different place. As for bringing up your own 6-month-old child — I truly don’t see the relevance. This situation wasn’t handled with professionalism or empathy. And instead of acknowledging that, you’re choosing to deflect and paint me as “rude” to cover poor treatment. It’s disappointing to see a business double down on dishonesty instead of offering a...
Read moreWhen asked if I can eat at the bar after ordering take out the lady with glasses said no because the waiters don't like it so the bar is just a waiting area for take out orders & not an actual place to eat or drink inside. They do that to not encourage people eating at the bar since they charge gratuity on all checks, that way waiters get more tips. I didn't like that she told me I couldn't eat at the bar she could've asked her boss or another waiter(s) to make an exception or something instead of just flat out telling me no. I've always ordered there to eat indoors & always paid full gratuity, never adjusting it to make it lower plus I also always order take out & work next door at Timo's as they're all aware by now yet it doesn't matter because I'm treated as if my business doesn't matter at all as the take out girls have shown. I only get a 10% discount which is nothing it should at least be 15% discount otherwise it defeats the purpose of giving a discount but since I'm not liked I'm only given 10% discount. Also the gratuity is by default 18% on all checks & parties of five or more are charged 20% gratuity which is only 2% difference. The dishes are already expensive without adding expensive gratuity by default on top of that. It discourages customers from ordering more on the menu because they have to take the expensive gratuity into consideration. So either the restaurant gets paid or the waiters get paid. Gratuity should be lowered to 15% by default. Having to tell the waiter to adjust the gratuity to make it less takes away from the overall positive experience & affects...
