What happened to my favorite spot sushi spot?!?! Hands down this place used to be a hidden gem in sunny isles and it was always packed that there was always a wait to get a table.
Well $91.19 later and for as much as I would have loved spending that much here I leave with buyers remorse.
The food was just ok, the ramen was cold and my octopus Karaage that used to be my favorite dish was fried in old oil and it came cold. The waitress clearly saw that not only I didn’t eat it but I had spit out the piece I actually did bite didn’t offer to replace the dish or remove it from the check (mind you I’m a chubby girl and usually eat everything) but this time the fishy, dried over cooked octopus was greasy on the tongue, rubbery to chew like a tire and the taste of old fryer oil just make me sick to stomach. My son who also lives octopus said to me that it tasted like grease. Well I guess I won’t be coming here when I’m in town again.
Shame that it got like that … I’ll pay the extra $10 for that horrible dish and I just won’t come back. I’m sure they won’t miss me coming back however knowing the clientele in sunny isles I know that if they keep this up they won’t last long.
Btw I initially had given them 3 stars however my son made me go back and change it … I tried his bobba and the pearls were gummy, chalky and undercooked had a very non palatable consistency and this kid absolutely loves bobba. He liked his ramen 🍜 but the rest of the meal was...
Read moreWe recently dined at Tako Sushi in Sunny Isles, Florida, and chose to sit outside. The restaurant is located in a small, modest shopping center — nothing large or upscale.
To start, my daughter had the miso soup. She’s a picky eater and didn’t finish it, but it seemed average. We also ordered the gyoza dumplings, which were just okay — a standard appetizer of fried dumplings served with a bit of soy sauce. The edamame was similarly average, nothing memorable.
My wife and I both had the house salad with ginger dressing. However, the dressing tasted more like miso than ginger. Overall, I’d rate it a B-minus — acceptable, but not great.
We also tried the “tuna roll,” which appeared to be a basic tuna roll. It lacked flavor and needed soy sauce, ginger, and wasabi to really enhance it. The roll was small and unimpressive.
For our main course, we had the chicken teriyaki entrée. The chicken was just fair — not particularly flavorful and could have benefited from a richer, thicker teriyaki sauce. It wasn’t anything special.
Also got the boba, had too many tapioca balls, flavor was decent, got the Taro.
One important note: be sure to check your bill carefully. An 18% gratuity is automatically added, regardless of party size, so make sure it’s included before adding an additional tip.
Overall, I’m not sure I’d return. The experience was...
Read moreThe best sushi sashimi i’ve ever had!!! the taste was just so refreshing and tasty in a way I cannot explain. My taste buds were happy. I also had pork spicy miso ramen and that was delicious. I definitely will be back again. The reasoning for 4 stars instead of 5: it seemed they did not have a good system in place for when there is a wait. I walked in at 8:25pm and it was very clear they were busy. No one at the hostess stand. I stood there for a few minutes waiting for someone to check me in then I realized there was a check in sheet as there’s a wait (did not say how long the wait was). I put my information down and waited outside since it was packed inside. I put a note saying I was waiting outside. 9pm comes around so I decided to go wait inside. After a few, a kind gentleman came to help. I told him the time I arrived and he asked that I wait a few more minutes. No problem at all but he ended up sitting me at the bar.. I feel that was an absurd time to wait to be seated at the bar (which was packed when I walked in the first time). The bar was small-ish and no room to put my purse down. Severs are in and out of the bar and constantly reaching over you which was a little annoying. But - great food and friendly staff. I just wouldn’t sit at the bar again...
