First of all I am not payed by anyone (like most of the "local guides" that are rating 4/5 stars this place, after a payment or a free dinner) so my review will be absolutely fair, honest and thorough.
I visited Il Mulino with my family and my friend's family. Food is TERRIBLE (we were there on September 18th '22 so it is all trackable). Appetizers (fried zucchini and fried bread) soaking in a fried oil (not even dried before being served) of bad quality and smelling like something that was dipping in oil for a very long time. Main course was even worse. We had Saltimbocca. OMG! The most simple recipe in Italy literally killed by a chef. Plenty of salt, poor quality of the meat and a sort of gravy sauce mixed with burnt salvia and spinach underneath (see posted photo) without any culinary logic. My son got a kids beef fillet. Meat was of the poorest quality ever (like frozen) and french fries even worse (again dipping in the fried oil and not dried like the zucchini above). We tried something else to see if we could be finally luckier but even a simple chocolate cake was terrible, stiff and clearly badly conserved. This place is a NO-GO and definitely NOT an Italian eatery. It does not serve any quality food. I could not save anything except the server (Simon) that was very sweet, comprehensive and apologized several times when she saw we left the food on the table. One more suggestions, please do not trust the Miami Spice advertisement suggesting brunch at this place, the brunch menu is like a breakfast menu and definitely not as the brunch menu shown in their website. A clearly misleading advertisement to attract people. Summarizing an overall bad experience that we are not going to repeat. I neither blame the restaurant manager nor the chef but those we put them in such an exclusive place like Acqualina Resort. Such a poor food quality combined with poor culinary knowledge, bad restaurant organization is NOT acceptable, especially with that...
Read moreDisappointing! I go to this restaurant quite often as I consider it one of the great dining places. I had to chill for 24 hours before writing the review because of my disappointment. At the door, the lady receptionist was welcoming, friendly, nice smiling, so it was a good start as usual, and seated us at a good table for 6. When everyone was seated, Service was rather slow. Got the cocktails( Average ). We had to call bus person to Request the menus. 2 orders tuna tartar which were good and 2 of Caesar salad (massive failure) The lettuce was welted , and both salads looked Not fresh as if been soaking in dressing for a while!! my friend couldn’t eat it and gave it to her husband and I actually decided since I’m struggling to eat unhealthy salad to call our waiter to address it. The bold head waiter came, and I was trying to show him that the lettuce is soft and limpy as if it is not fresh? He tells me( That’s the anchovies !! Not the lettuce)WHAT!! Is he trying to say I don’t know the difference between a lettuce and anchovies?? This man is rude. He doesn’t know the rules that the customers are always right, even if they are wrong. We had a third order of a Caesar salad as a main course for a friend and we were going to cancel it, but we were told they are going to do a fresh one in the kitchen and sure enough it came as a healthy regular Caesar salad. How did this kitchen allow a Caesar salad like that to go out to clients?? The octopus appetizer was slimy and not well cooked another disappointment. On the good note and the reason we always love that restaurant is the Dover sole which we got 2 & they were good size & as always cooked right & Thank heavens. The Osso Buco also was a great dish. Not sure was it just a bad night for the kitchen and the waiter! guess restaurants cannot maintain high...
Read moreIl Mulino New York isn't just a neighborhood gem. It's a must-visit culinary experience in Miami. How is this restaurant not Michelin rated? With its stunning patio views overlooking Acqualina Resort's pool and a partial ocean view of Sunny Isles Beach, this is a restaurant I'll definitely be returning to.
It was love at first bite. Especially after being spoiled with complimentary appetizers during Valentine's Day weekend. The experience began with hand-sliced Grana Padano cheese, aged 18 months, followed by crispy zucchini chips and fresh tomato bruschetta, all perfectly paired with their house-made focaccia bread.
I arrived at lunchtime, which allowed me to take advantage of their incredible $35 three-course prix-fixe menu. This is easily one of the best lunch specials in Miami. My meal selections included:
Vongole - Clams delicately sautéed in a white wine sauce.
Mediterranean Branzino Fillet - Served with a caper lemon sauce.
Torta Della Nonna - A classic lemon infused Italian dessert, which I enjoyed with a cappuccino.
Beyond the delicious food, what truly stood out was the impeccable service. My server, Daniele, provided the best service I've ever received in Miami, on par with 4 and 5-star restaurants in New York or San Francisco. His menu recommendations were spot on, he was friendly yet professional, and his team ensured my glass was always full and that I had plenty of focaccia to enjoy with my meal. In addition, my silverware was thoughtfully replaced with each course, adding to the refined dining experience.
All in all, this was a wonderful, 5-star experience, perfect for a date night or special occasion. If you haven't been to Il Mulino New York yet, I highly...
