Title: A Vegetarian Haven in the Heart of Sunnyvale
Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5)
I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Merit Vegetarian Restaurant in Sunnyvale, California, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. This culinary oasis in the heart of Silicon Valley delivers an impressive range of sumptuous vegetarian and vegan fare that does not compromise on flavor, creativity, or satisfaction.
First and foremost, the Pad Thai is a must-try. This dish, a classic staple of Thai cuisine, has been masterfully recreated to suit a plant-based diet without losing any of the traditional zest or flair. The tangle of noodles was cooked to perfection, beautifully interspersed with an assortment of colorful, crunchy vegetables. Tossed in a tangy tamarind sauce that balanced sweet, sour, and umami notes, it was garnished with crushed peanuts adding a delightful crunch and depth to the overall flavor profile.
The Vermicelli Curry Soup was another revelation. The soup, a hearty amalgam of vibrant spices, was comforting and packed a robust flavor punch. The vermicelli was delicate, offering a contrast to the powerful curry broth. The complexity of flavors built with each mouthful, warming and surprising the palate in equal measure. It was the perfect amalgamation of spices, textures, and warmth.
Finally, the Papaya Salad served as a fresh, zingy contrast to the other dishes. It was a riot of flavors and textures: the crunch of the shredded unripe papaya, the tanginess of the lime, and the mild heat from the chili combined to create an explosion of flavors in the mouth. It was vibrant, refreshing, and the perfect palate cleanser.
One cannot review Merit Vegetarian without mentioning the warm and hospitable staff. They were attentive without being intrusive, always ready with a suggestion and ensuring we were comfortable throughout our dining experience.
In conclusion, Merit Vegetarian is a true gem in Sunnyvale's culinary scene, a sanctuary for vegetarians and vegans alike, and a tantalizing surprise for meat-eaters. It is a place where you can discover that vegetarian cuisine can be hearty, delicious, and leaves you fully satiated. Whether you're a long-time vegetarian or just curious about plant-based cuisine, Merit Vegetarian is definitely...
Read moreall potential visitors to this restaurant should keep in mind that it is a vegetarian and vegan restaurant and people who frequent this kind of establishment tend to have a certain attitude towards food which is not universal. the primary concern is about the cleanliness of the food meaning organic non-GMO non-pesticide excetera and in this restaurant is non-meat and non-dairy they tend to eat more lightlyy than meat eaters obviously veggies are extremely important to them and they tend to eat a lot of tofu at a restaurant like this so it's not for everybody I almost had the feeling that when I finished my appetizer and entree that I was thinking about my next meal.and it's doubtful that you're going to leave this restaurant having to unbuckle your button or belt of your pants. the restaurant was fully booked although we did not have to wait there were some seats available which I take it's a good sign that the restaurant is popular and suggested that they have repeat customers I had a soup called Viet udon and the broth the soup was laced with onion and garlic which is optional and it had veggies and tofu inside and overall it was quite okay we had deep fried spring rolls to begin and they were also yummy. you have a choice to sit at a booth or table and chairs depending upon what you prefer theservers are Vietnamese and Chinese and yet their English was fine and the ability to communicate questions about various choices available was excellent noise level was reasonable even though the restaurant was full it was clean and I will return there again especially when I'm looking for a light vegetarian meal I had a dish with shrimp in it, of course it was not real shrimp it was made of tofu and yet it looked exactly like shrimp and tastes just like shrimp was really good. there's no bread served I did not try the desert although it looked pretty good thecoffee was fine and it was served with soy milk. I dinedwith my 26 year old son and he enjoyed the meal very much keep in mind that he is a light eater. I will definitely returnto the restaurant and give it a second try even though I feel it has some deficits for me it was good enough to overcome the deficits. I overall give it a positive recommendation...
Read moreRude staffs!!! Merit used to be our favorite spot to dine in and was our go to place when our friends visit us but not any more!!! We took two of our friends for lunch and I total we were 4 people. No complaints on the food, it was good as usual. Before we could even finish our food the waitress came with the check and my friend decided to pay and unknowingly she missed to add the tip in the machine. Before she could go to her car to get the cash, there was this very rude person who came to the table to create drama. He started talking about tips before we could tell him that we are gonna tip in cash and was very impolite. His tone was very loud, aggressive and for us it sounded like he literally shouted at us for not tipping. He then left and we felt baffled. When we called him back to say we left the tip in cash he refused to come to our table and made us wait. When we decided to tell him that our friends felt bad for treating this way, first he didn't allow us to talk and kept saying that he was right and stood very close as if he is on a fight with us. Once the drama grew there were the other merit staffs joined, not even one being apologetic and kept supporting that rude person. I kept asking for the rude person's name " sir what's your name?" And he replied aggressively shouting" oh, what you gonna do ha!!! and motioned his hand". His language and tone was very rude, unprofessional, and in the end nobody apologized. I really felt bad for taking my friend's there and none of us had a good time. I understand tipping is a social culture to appreciate people but it should not come to a point where you embarrass and insult your customers if they fail/forget to do so. If customers forget first of all it's their wish to tip and if you still want them to tip you there is always a nicer way to remind them. I humbly request the owner of this place to train their employees well on how to treat their customers, the language to use and not have them simply shout at their customers when there...
