ok, the food is cheap and taste good, they have great milk shakes... however.... the service is horrible!!! terrible!!! and seens like it's getting worse every time I come back!!! from the beginning to the end they messed up...
let me explain...
As We got there, thera was a group of people waiting to be seatted, first group lost theirs patients and left... so we and the other group waited... and waited... and nothing... the funny part was that, there was 5 tables clean and ready!!
Servers were talking and not even looking at us, until over 15min later, I guess the manager told server to come and get us tables.
So we choose our food, milkshake and I asked for 2 waters and French fries for my order as mine didn't come with. You know in every restaurant drinks is the first thing they bring right??? not here! So time passes and no waters... and in that day we were so thirsty and nothing to drink... so.. order comes and... missing my french fries and still no waters...
I asked to please bring both drinks and fries... again we waited... waited... and nothing... I felt like going over there and serve the waters my self... Realy awful! So we were close to finish our meals when the server finally decided to bring the waters and the french fries... and this is not over yet!! so we finish our milkshakes and by this time "we were expecting the server to come to bring our bill and ask if we needed anything but.... nothing.... we waited and waited... so my wife lost her patient and we walked right to the front to pay without a bill. Guy in the front asked "where is your bill?" Well... we don't have one we responded... so he had to ask the servers who took care of us and thats when our server went to the computer to print our bill...
Even after all this I still left a tip because I don't blame the servers for this Mayhem of service but the corporate who run this restaurant... You see... they hire people and you can clearly see that they don't proper train them... most of the servers are teens which that's nothing wrong with that cause in an Dennis we visited we had this amazing 17 years old teen giving us an amazing service and told her manager how awesome she was. so this is not a problem or excuse. But in the Steak 'n Shake, they don't train their teens employees, all the time since we arrived they were talking and looking at their cell phones... our server was all the time in her cell phone as all was going on...
So corporate needs to address this issue by training their servers better... and have 2 managers to manage the restaurant and staff... as well dont blame the single manager who was there cause poor guy running on his own getting payments and doing everything... so corporate stop been cheap and hire more people and train...
Read moreSTAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AS POSSIBLE!! If I could give this Steak 'n Shake a zero I would. What an awful place. This is not the Steak 'n Shake you know and love. This location is managed terribly if it's managed at all because the employees barely do their jobs. Corporate would be appalled. If it's a franchise the owners should have the place taken away from them. The employees at this location are lazy, unapproachable and unhelpful. All the employees were sitting in a booth just talking when we walked in at 10am opening. We were the first customers of the day. Place was empty so service should have been good. But no not the case at all. Our food took for-e-ver. Finally went up to the counter to inquire and it was all just sitting there waiting. Not one of them told us it was ready. Just hid in the back laughing and chattering away with one another. I ordered an extra chicken tender and had to point that out otherwise it would not have been given to me even though it was on my order. Ordered a shake but the shake machine was down. Which is ridiculous; "shake" is in the name! The machine should be serviced & cleaned before opening so customers can buy what Steak 'n Shake is known for!! One of the girls came out to tell me after I payed for it even though they saw us when we come in and pointed us to the self service machine to place our order when I wanted to place the order with one of them. Not sure why she didn't just tell me then they had no shakes. I asked her for a credit but all she offered me was a soft drink instead. Shakes are more expensive than soft drinks. If I was able to place the order with a human rather than service myself by placing my order with a machine I would have known and not ordered it. My son ordered a soft drink but the self service drink machine would not scan the drink ticket so he could not get his drink. The girl was standing right there, made eye contact with me and heard! us struggling but offered no help. She just walked away. He had to drink water. Went to try and get a credit for it all but was not able to because the girls were way in the back avoiding customers, doing as little as possible, being lazy. I literally could have gone behind the counter because they vanished all the time and cooked my own food and probably cooked it better. The entire location was filthy and the floors and seating areas had not been cleaned at all. Both napkin holders were empty so we had no napkins for our meal. The bathrooms looked and smelled like they belonged at a turnpike gas station. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Place is putrid on so...
Read moreHeard Steak 'n Shake was good. I'd never been and wanted something quick after the Panthers game. Horrible decision. You order at kiosks- no human interaction whatsoever. So my husband and I ordered at 1 kiosk while my adult stepson and his brother ordered at another. Ironically, we had the same food orders but different shakes. The shakes came out super quick but food took 15 minutes for the "kids" order to come out. We waited and waited. 30 minutes go by since we ordered because time stamp is on receipt and still no food. My husband goes up to the counter to inquire since people that arrived after us are starting to get their food. The chef did not make OUR food with different name and order number because it was the same order. Imagine that 2 people go to a fast food restaurant order the same damn thing. Shocking! Other things to note is that they had a sign on the door that simply said "NO BACON". Plain and to the point. It neglected to say "Zero Napkins" so they brought out a roll of paper towels from the bathroom for people to use. Everyone just had to unroll what they needed. They also did not have shake straws and ketchup was down to about 15-20 packets. The Manager looked like she had not slept in days and was so tired she moved slower than a turtle when she said she was going to Walmart but I did not see her return with napkins or have them put out. She left again for the night. As for the food, it was ok. The shake was pretty yucky and they charge extra for whip cream and a cherry. Next they'll charge for you to use the kiosk you're ordering on. The best/most ridiculous part was their marketing advertising the "Zagat Rated Shakes". I was like absolutely no way! I had to use Google to see if I was in the minority. They received that designation in 2012. It's time to stop using a rating received over a decade ago honestly. This place should just close.
P.s. they ask you for a tip at the kiosk- don't do it. The tables are filthy. The counter where you get your drinks and where you're supposed to get straws and such were filthy and empty. The staff including the manager are not deserving of any gratuity because there is "NO SERVICE" here just...
