Dagwood's Deli & Sports Bar — Restaurant in Surfside Beach

Came in at prime dinnertime with a party of 9 so I expected a wait. I was asked if we would like to split up and told them no, if possible. They asked if we would rather be outside and i said yes, definitely. The hostess (a blonde headed girl, highschool age to early 20s) told us it would be a longer wait for outsdie to which i replied i was ok with that because we wanted to be outside. She told us the wait would be 45 minutes. No worries. Right around the 45 min mark they called us to be seated at a table inside. I told her I had requested a table outside and she told me that I didnt. She proceeded to argue with me that I didn't request it. I asked about an empty table outside that was big enough for my party but she said she had already called someone else in to be seated there. (I looked a few minutes later and it was a party of 4 that she sat at the table my family could've sat at.) I asked to speak with a manager but she never tried to get them. She said she just wrote down no hightop tables bc we had a baby. The table they sat us at required us to stack 2 highchairs on top of each other. 🤔 Super safe. The atmosphere was asexpected for a bar; super loud. It was trivia night so that added to it even more. We went on high recommendations for the food (not the bar atmosphere, hence the reason I requested to be sat outside.) Food was ok. The bread for the sandwiches was the best part. Everything else mediocre. I'm sure if things had been handled differently by the hostess in the beginning it would have been a completely...

Oh you have got to try this location and restaurant. Weren't sure where to have dinner and thought Why Not! Pulling up we found a full and busy parking lot (that's a good sign) went inside and found a lively busy place with a 20+ minute wait on a Wednesday evening in September... that tells you something...a non football evening with no major league games and still busy... great sign. Decided to sit outside and the head waitress advised us rain might be coming but decided to chance it...No 🌧️. Ok now the food and service... freaking outstanding and great! Ordered Fried Mushrooms OMG were they good! 5 ⭐ Jalapeno poppers another 5 ⭐. Buffalo Nacho were ok so for us only 3 ⭐. I ordered the Ruben with coleslaw side phenomenal and a must future order. Bill did the French Dip with Sweet potato fries another great selection BUT the dipping Ajus Gravy was just Brown water. Guys you MUST improve that... taste before serving PLEASE! Added salt and pepper to it but only slightly improved it. Due to that only 4 ⭐ Wing's were another moist and positive meal 5 ⭐. Another guest had the Philly Cheesesteak which was another big and fantastic sandwich with Tater Tots. Service was outstanding with Kambra and a new employee who were both a joy to have wait on us. We give the entire wait staff a Big 5 ⭐. Parking is not an issue as pulling into the rear of the building gives you plenty of parking space. Don't forget HAPPY HOUR it's a winner. PS they have Manhattan Clam chowder.. Forgot to order it...darn... will order the next time we enjoy Dagwoods in...

Ok I went back with some family that came into town , and those hostesses with the bad attitudes are gone. The atmosphere is better now. So I enjoyed the chicken melt yet again ! It's my very fav ! 11-1-23

My latest experience at Dagwood's was not good. I've been a regular there for a several years , but this was my first time back in a few months . I noticed the parking lot was not full at all so decided to go there for an early dinner. I was greeted with the hostess saying "in or out ", not even asking if I would like to sit inside or outside. Just " in or out " no hello or anything. I was taken to a high top table , and asked if I could have a booth. The hostess snapped and said it will be 20 minutes , and walked off. So I left. I've been going there for years , and never had that kind of experience. The hostess seems very miserable . Not a good look at all. A simple smile goes a long way. It's not that difficult. Changed my previous 5 star rating to a 1 star. Very disappointed in the lack of good customer service ! 4/28/23

I really like Dagwood’s so much , I even bought a T-shirt ! You really can’t go wrong with any of the menu items , but I always get the chicken melt. Yummm. Great...
