Magianos actual dining experience was good. Our waitress, Jamie, was spot on. Attentive to our needs at table, helpful with menu and understanding and helpful with allergy needs for those in our party. I would have rated the service as a whole higher if the supporting services as mentioned below were worthy of it. But like I said Jamie was a great waitress. Sous chef came out and explained how things were cooked and what menu options were open. We opted for the Family style dining. The food was ok. The baked ziti was on the salty side, the chicken and spinach manicotti was very rich. Liked lasagna and the meatballs were good as was the fettuccini. The fried zucchini fritte and sauce was good. So long as you have a healthy appetite the family dining option is a good way to go.
Had to make a reservation for our event. Requested time and booth, however upon arrival the hostess was on the problematic/attitude side where we were told can’t guarantee a booth, to which I replied uhhhh no, I have a reservation which you required… if I have to wait a few minutes either side of my time that’s ok but when we show up an hour before hand for drinks and check in, to be told we might not get what we reserved isn’t on at all.
During the meal no management/leadership came to check in on us but did see him walk around.
Wasn’t impressed with the service at the bar. Not one open space at the bar or ability to elbow in to order drinks (had to order over top of those sitting at bar which I felt was rude). The barman was more interested in serving drinks to those people than taking an order while waiting for a table. Being 6’4 it’s not easy to be accidentally not noticed so I took more of being ignored. Our party had 4 people one of which was the desig driver and wanted coffee, when ordering at bar didn’t appreciate the perceived airs and graces over that, appeared an inconvenience or. “Hey man this is a bar, type attitude. While we’re talking about the drinks they are stupid expensive. I wouldn’t select this place for a drinks option based on that. Utilized the coat check however, the attitude of the hostess at time of claiming coats was not professional. Appears possibly the end of her shift, had her own coat on and seemed to be heading out the door, appeared no one else immediately around to back her up I had to go look for someone. When I asked about the coats I was told I’d have to ask someone else??!! For the price of the experience and overall service I wasn’t impressed. The food as a whole was okay to good, however the supporting team needs some considerable work to make me want to come back on a more regular basis other than a once a year/birthday event. Parking has never been great at this place, allow plenty of time to...
Read moreI loved Magianos and usually went 2 or 3 times a year as a treat for special occasions. Been going on New Years Eve for several years now but I was so disappointed in service and the food tonight I am not sure if we will ever be back. 1st the menu has changed dramatically since I was last there in October. Many favorites are no longer available. I have gluten allergy and have to order my meal gf. Our waiter never asked about allergies like most waiters do when discussing the menu. Not a big deal because I know what I can have. But then looking at the menu my normal order was not in the menu any more (Rigatoni Arrabbiata) which was the best tasting gluten free sauce ever. So I waited to talk to the waiter. He informed me all the sauces are gf just substitute for the gf penne pasta. (I knew that but since a big menu changed I wanted to reverify) He also pointed out to me one of the specialty pastas that would taste similar to my favorite dish. He said we can add chicken and spinach and it's basically the same. I agreed to try it... When my food came out I noticed the pasta was not gluten free (thank God). By the time I got my new plate half my party was finished eating. The taste was similar but not as good. It was still satisfying compared to just marinara sauce though. We then got the bill. The up charge for everything was insane and never once were we warned of it. They took away the dish that was amazing and replaced it with a meatless dish just so they can upcharge to a ridiculous amt for pasta. My husband and I get the Marcos deal. There used to be an upcharge of $5 for specialty pastas but now it's $7. (Which I was aware of that.) But on top of that they charged $6.50 for chicken and $3.50 for spinach. Not a single warning about upcharging when our waiter suggested the additions. And the waiter mentioned the dish accommodations like he does all the time. The price for that dish I could have ordered the filet. Chicken pasta dishes should never be that much. I loved going there for a treat of something different with amazing flavor when it came to GF pasta but sorry we are already talking about somewhere else for next year. Very disappointed in the menu changes and very disappointed that I got my food so late. No manager concerned about my food allergies and the sickness that it could have caused if I didn't notice the wrong pasta... and then we were overcharged in my opinion for a subpar dish comparable to the dish they got rid of. My favorite place to eat has now become a memory. This...
Read moreI had a Valentine’s Day reservation for the Maggiano’s at Kenwood Mall. My girlfriend and I were very excited for this Valentine’s Day meal and had talked about it all week. We both agreed that we should enjoy the entire dinner as much as we can and not rush anything given it was Valentine’s Day. As we walked in, we were quickly seated on the upstairs level. My girlfriend had not been to Maggiano’s before so she needed to take some time to look over the menu to find exactly what she wanted. Our waiter came and introduced himself and asked us if we’d like to put in any appetizers or drinks. We declined to get any drinks and said we were looking at a few appetizers and may need some more time. About two minutes later, our waiter had come back and he asked if we were ready to order our appetizer and food. Given that we were trying to enjoy this dinner and the time spent with one another we were unsure whether we wanted to order just yet. The waiter suggested that it may be better to get the orders in earlier rather than later just because the place was very busy. This made sense to both my girlfriend and I, however, this went against us wanting to stretch out the duration of our dinner. We went ahead and put in our appetizer and main entrees. Our server noted that our appetizer will arrive before our entrees so we will have time to enjoy it. We also noticed that other tables had butter and herbs served with their bread. The only thing we were given for our bread was oil. About 15-20 minutes we put our entree order in, our entrees were served to us without our appetizer arriving. My girlfriend grew a bit frustrated knowing that we weren't even given our appetizer and we had already been served our main entrees after being at Maggiano's for only 30 minutes or so. We called over our waiter and informed him that our appetizer failed to be given to us and he politely offered to take the appetizer off our meal due to the inconvenience. Our appetizer later came while we were eating our entrees. Our entrees were very good and we had no issues with them. However, the nature of feeling extremely rushed at a special occasion dinner where we wanted to enjoy it is our main concern with the service. Our experience wasn't a disaster by any means, but we do wish it would've gone...
