With such a rich family history.....I was embarrased that the food was as bad as it was. I felt like when I walked out the place I would find people holding their stomachs with one hand doubled over with laughter and pointing at me with their other.
I kept expecting a camera crew to come from out the back along with a bunch of laughter and knee slapping telling me I got pranked......but it never happened🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️. This was a real experience😳.
Such nice people too but their food was so bad I called my 79 year old mother to tell her about their food after I ran to my car and she was upset that I finished the food and and did ask for my money back.
If you lived in a community for over 20 years and never heard of a place....there is a reason.
BBQ sauce should never be poured all over any kind of BBQ meat. It should be on the side and the well seasoned meat should actually stand on its own.
ALL of the BBQ meat was nasty.
The sauce was worse.
The potato salad was tasteless.
The macaroni was so salty that I started using it as seasoning for my meat and potatoe salad.
This is NOT Tacoma's best BBQ.....
I wanted to find out more about the family history on this place but changed my mind after my first bite. I did not want to make them uncomfortable by getting up quickly and running out the place after the second bite so I forced myself to eat all of it.
Please stop telling people its the best BBQ in town. I am sure it was a very long time ago but something tells me that Bob didnt make his BBQ that way.
There service was outstanding.
Please learn how to cook fresh BBQ meat....season your meat. Do a community taste test and get real feedback. Make all of your food from scratch.
I do not think anyone that works there has actually tasted the meat or sauce before. There is...
Read moreOkay so let me be clear that this isn't the kind of place You're going to rush into and really quickly get your food and get out. That's not how this works. They take time they're chatting with you they're having a conversation. There's a little elderly lady who is going to tell you all about her day. When you finally do get your food this is going to be the best barbecue you've ever had in your life. They literally have the smoker right out front you can smell it coming down the block. This is a slow burn building up to the crescendo that is excellent barbecue food so I want to hear nobody complaining about how long it took to get their food perfection takes time That being said the brisket was amazing I'm going to try the chicken next time I go in. The potato salad was great. The cornbread was great. The sweet potato pie was great. The mac and cheese was great. The only thing that wasn't a 10 and instead was like a 9.2 was the collard greens. They just need a little bit more seasoning. But everything else, best...
Read moreAs a certified BBQ judge, I take my barbecue seriously—and I always focus on how well the meat is cooked. While seasoning preferences vary across regions, properly cooked meat is a universal standard.
I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and (I believe) his mother—both incredibly kind and welcoming. Their hospitality alone makes this place worth visiting.
I ordered the two-meat plate: ribs and brisket. The ribs, which the owner proudly recommended, were excellent. They had a perfect tender pull without falling off the bone—just how properly cooked ribs should be. The flavor was solid, though I would have preferred to try them without the sauce, which was poured over the top.
The brisket, unfortunately, was a bit tough. The flavor was decent, but the texture missed the mark, especially since brisket is a personal favorite of mine.
Overall, the ribs were a standout, and the warm, family-run vibe made the experience memorable. I’ll definitely be back—if not just for the ribs, then...
