As has been said in previous reviews, I really wanted to like this place to expand my options.
The coffee is not very good, unfortunately. My quad 16oz Americano tastes more of watery cream than coffee. I don't know if this is a training issue with the baristas but other reviews have mentioned this so it needs to be addressed. The sandwiches are delicious however.
The decor and furnishings are beautiful and really catch your eye when walking in. It's really a shame that it's a textbook example of form over function. The chairs at the stunning round cross section tables are far too short to work. I felt like a kid at the adult table for dinner. The bench table in the middle is made of uneven wood shingles which causes your laptop, notebook, etc to rock back and forth making it unusable. This table needs a sheet of glass placed on top to even out the surface and still allow viewing of the gorgeous wood construction.
The enormous plexiglass shield hanging in front of the registers makes communicating with the staff clearly almost impossible. I had to repeat myself several times. I understand Covid is still a thing but this seemed overkill.
I really hope the owners can rectify these issues. Minority owned businesses are so important but the quality has to be there in order for me to...
Read moreCampfire Coffee has several distinct things that make it excellent. The one that you won't find anywhere else in Tacoma (let alone Puget Sound to the best of my knowledge) - fire roasted coffee! While the majority of the roasters in North America and Europe use gas fired roasting methods, Campfire Coffee eschews fossil fuels in favor of wood. The beans, in turn, take on a different flavor both from the fuel and from the small roasting variations. This makes the resulting coffee have a richer, fuller flavor that does well to temper milk drinks or sweeter lattes. Without a DOUBT Campfire Coffee also happens to have the STRONGEST coldbrew I've ever had! Folks needing 2-3 cups of coffee in the morning might get by on a SIP of this! Beyond a unique and notable roasting method and cold brew that could wake the dead, Campfire Coffee is welcoming and has one of the friendliest and most personable owner/operators I've ever had the joy to meet. The effort and purpose that Quincy has put into Campfire shines through in all of the various food and beverage offerings. I have yet to have a drink from here I haven't...
Read moreThank goodness I heard about this place on KNKX, I’d be missing out otherwise. Really good coffee and great prices on their merch, I will most definitely be back! My new favorite place for coffee, thank you!
12/30/20- I’d like to add to my review since Campfire continues to be awesome. I have been able to try almost all of their coffees and love them, but was hesitant to try their Snowcap white coffee because it was pre-ground and in a smaller package than the rest of their coffee, I usually just order the bigger bags. Well I am kicking myself for waiting so long, the Snowcap is REALLY good and now I understand why the white is pre-ground, thank you I will be buying more! I would also like to add a note about their merch- I was finally able to get a couple of their hoodies, they sell out often so get them while you can! They are very comfortable and a great price! Thank you again, your coffee is SO good and you all are amazing. I...
