We had our wedding at Courthouse Square, it’s a space we’ve admired for many years. We booked it close to two years before our event date. In the beginning Jessica was really responsive to everything and we got the contract and whatnot sorted. But leading up to the event we would email, call, and text and only my husband was able to get a response to a few things via text. We sent over the reception seating chart and the day of contact Derek did not receive it. This was a bit stressful the week of our wedding. However, we did have the space for the full day before. Derek fixed the seating in a matter of 30 minutes for us and I don’t have enough words to describe how helpful he was throughout our whole weekend. Our guests loved him as a bartender and he made sure everything went smoothly and even came on his day off so we could pickup our leftover alcohol. I wish we had reached out to him with questions because he was incredibly responsive. We could not have had such a beautiful day without him. Overall, I would recommend the space for any event but give Derek a call for logistics.

As a business owner within the building, I really enjoy the sense of community our neighbors have built! I’ve made some truly great business friendships here- I always recommend checking out the restaurant ( En Rama ) in here as well as the coffee shop ( Lift Bridge ) ! Lots of great service providers here as well for your beauty / tattoo needs. I also love being near a post office as for business it’s very convenient. I will say the building is old / “ vintage “ so expect that when coming in, there isn’t AC or frequent heat so temps can be uncontrolled at times. Maintenance could be more on top of things but there is a lot of tenants. Overall, love the beautiful space we get to share with others and see the community flourish here!

This is a beautiful venue. The courthouse square was very polite, prompt, and accommodating. I had my wedding here in January 2017. My guests were in awe over how beautiful the event space was, and by the amazing views of tacoma and Mt Rainier. They have tables, chairs, table clothes, and a PA system all available for use (for a minimal fee). The only reason I give 4 stars out of 5 is because during the wedding event, there were a few technical errors, all of which were addressed. Also, for you or your guests that are wheel chair bound, just realize that there are two elevators, just in case one decides to stop working. All in all, I would definitely recommend Courthouse Square ballroom for your event!

We booked both the gallery and the ballroom for our wedding, 12 months in advance. The architecture and lighting made it the perfect venue.

Then the day of the wedding. When we arrived the gallery had a stack of cabinetry in the corner and other junk that we had to move. When we called our day of coordinator, we received no response or help. But, it is an event and things happen so you just move the junk and move on (this only delayed us a half hour so it was workable).

After the ceremony and the dinner, we turned on our glow sticks and fun LED glasses, rings and bracelets and went to change the lighting to start the dancing (mind you this is the main reason we booked this venue). The lighting system is kind of hard to operate and it appeared to have been missing the buttons so again we called our day of coordinator for help (no answer), we texted (no answer), we had a gentleman who was cleaning call (no answer). Finally, the nice gentleman who had been cleaning the ceremony space explained to us that the lighting had been broken for weeks!! What?!!?

After being ignored by the management team and lied to about the lights we left the venue two hours earlier than we had the event rented for. Our awesome caterers were excited about getting to close up early and even though they are no affiliated with the venue they apologized for the situation. We left the venue early because who wants to dance in basically sun light bright lights and instead went down the street and a couple of remaining guests danced at a local bar.

I emailed the management team the next day and received your typical apology, I obviously requested a refund for the two hours we did not occupy the space due to their blatant mistake. That was over a month ago. I followed up two separate times and even inquired as to where my security deposit is, but again just like the day of my event, we are being ignored. I am not demanding a grandiose apology or all my money refunded, I feel that my request is standard and due to them not fulfilling the contract and providing me the agreed upon service and venue space.

How...

The event spaces are beautiful, but the customer service and communication was terrible. Would not recommend for a wedding. There was a change of management about a month after I booked the ballroom, and communication after that was nearly impossible. I would call and email daily for weeks trying to reach anyone because I wanted to add the gallery room to my rental, and it took weeks to reach anyone. It was like that for many things that came up before the wedding. I decided to rent the gallery for the wedding rehearsal, and it took a week of calling to find out if I could. I was able to, but then I had to wait 20 minutes after my rental started for the room to be unlocked. Jessica had given me her cell phone number, but she never answered any of my calls. Even on the day of my wedding when the rooms needed to be set up and decorated, I had to call and text Jessica many times before she unlocked the ballroom 20 minutes late. The worst part of it all was that the sound equipment that was set up in the ballroom for my reception was set up with a broken cable, so we couldn't plug into the speaker. There was NO MUSIC for close to an hour and a half of my reception. Half of that time was spent trying to contact Jessica to fix it and the other half of the time was just waiting for them to bring the cable. It made the reception feel so awkward. On the day of my wedding, I was finally receiving texts from Jessica because she sent me several texts saying that I needed to pay my remaining balance immediately. I had paid the deposit as soon as I booked before the change of management happened and never received a contract or bill after I added the second room to my rental or the rental for the rehearsal. I would have paid it before, but like I said, I never received a contract or bill. I was so irritated that she was making it a big issue the day of my wedding during photos. Overall, a terrible experience that added a ton of unnecessary...

I typically do not leave reviews at all but for this one I decided to do so. The reason for this review is because I booked a tour for the event spaces. My fiancé and I were considering the space for our wedding. My first complaint is that they gave us no notes or directions on where to go once we got to the building, okay not too big of a deal we can call. Or so we thought. Called serveral times only to be greated by the voicemail every single time. We attempted to find an office but the building itself is a little difficult to figure out. Finally 10 minutes after our tour was supposed to start we get a message to meet one of the management people on the 2nd floor. We get there and there is no one around. We waited as well as texted them to let them know we were waiting where they asked us but still no on was there. 25 minutes past our scheduled tour time we finally texted them again letting them know we would only wait another 5 minutes and if no one showed we could leave. Guess what? No one showed up so we left. They messaged us earlier apologizing but that doesn't give us back the 2 hours we spent driving down to Tacoma to see this place. At this point we would not even consider giving them a second chance because if this is how they act, I would not want to spend thousands for them to ruin our...
