Fermentation Lounge — Restaurant in Tallahassee

A mix of a nerd's paradise and beer snob's perfect hole in the wall. Fermentation Lounge is an excellent little bar with an impressive beer list and selection on tap. I've been going for years and it's always pleasant. The events they have are great, too. My only gripe would be that it's too small, so in the winter time you'll have to bundle up unless you get there early; you'll be outside otherwise. But in Tallahassee, bitterly cold weather isn't too common, so I wouldn't mark down my review for this.

The atmosphere is great, too. You've got lunchboxes behind the bar on the glassware shelf, including a Battlestar Galactica one (my favorite). A projector playing black and white television of the past and a neat collection of artwork make up a fair amount of the decor. The people there complete the atmosphere, though. The staff is real friendly and know their stuff. Don't hesitate to ask for their recommendation based on what you like to drink. Jacob rushed off before I could finish my sentence when I was trying to place an order. I had to run to catch him before he poured the the wrong size, and he scolded me about not specifying this, telling me that the default size is 12oz. If he hadn’t rushed off as I was speaking, this could have been avoided. Later on, I noticed that I was charged for several drinks that I didn’t order. No one was picking up the phone, so I had to go back to remedy this. Jacob kept cutting me off without letting finish speaking, and also walked away as I was talking. Extremely rude, the accidental charge thing I could understand because it seemed busy, but this person repeatedly dismissing me was pretty awful. Overall really enjoy the place. Parking is rough but it's worth it. Good drinks and really great atmosphere. Service is fine but I'm not looking for friends or servants at establishments so my standards are low lol.

Place is clean, and the bathroom specifically is clean, stocked and gender neutral (by default - there is only one - but I like to mention that in my review of places for my fellow transgender folks).

The food is fine. It's bar snacks. The stuff we've had isn't anything particularly special but it's relatively cheap and not a bad snack to have on your stomach with the drinks.
