I’ve been a customer at Gaines Street Pies for awhile now. Usually I frequent their new location on Capital Circle which always seems to do a good job and has good customer service. This time my family and I decided to go to this location on Gaines for the first time. It was my moms first time ordering at Gaines Street Pies ever and while she was ordering one of the workers interrupted my mom and the other worker trying to take my moms order. The worker rudely interrupted them to ask her coworker about a completely different order and then proceeded to lean her upper body over the counter with a “I don’t want to be here” kind of look on her face. Super unprofessional whether you’re a new customer or not. However, I should note that the guy taking my moms order and one of the girls that brought our food out to us were very nice. Moving on, the food here was awesome so that is why I am giving it 3 stars. They have vegan options for me and my fiancé which is a plus and they use the “follow your heart” vegan mozzarella instead of the “daiya” cheese (if you’re vegan you know why this is a good thing). Unfortunately, while we were here we decided to order a pitcher of beer. When they brought us out beer we were informed that a pitcher of beer was $19! I don’t know about you but that’s an incredibly steep price. They do not have the prices for their pitchers on the menu which makes sense now. Keep in mind that the pitcher we ordered was from a local brewery. However, to my knowledge they do not offer domestics on tap so you’re kind of forced to pay the high price of a local beer if you want a pitcher here. Overall, the food here was great but I would never order beer here again and would probably prefer to go the other location based off of some...
Read moreTLDR: Never got the order, didn't actually get a full refund. Got a call saying there might be a delivery issue, but we couldn't pick it up because the driver had our order (that I assumed they were working on resolving) and said 'no worries,' but 40 minutes later (nearly 2 hours since placing the order) I called back and at first the same guy acted like it was new info he had no idea what they would do about. I had to point out the guy that he was actually the one to notify me about the issue 40 minutes ago and asked me to call back if they hadn't resolved it. They could've remade our order, we could've picked it up ourselves and been home eating by then lol. It'd gotten late, and I had hungry guests waiting an awkward amount of time now for this more expensive, new-to-them place I suggested. The second call was a weird sort of rude customer service interaction where the guy seemed almost annoyed at me for bringing it back up to him and asking him for solutions, so I finally just decided to get a "full" refund and figure out the food situation faster myself since they they seemed to feel no obligation to make it right and didn't even offer to deliver again. So I guess whatever, its a bummer, but probably even the small, local places don't pay service workers enough to care IMO and I haven't been in person in a few year now like I used to all the time to see if the place is still nice now a days, so I let it go last week... Until I look at my credit card statement today and they didn't even refund me the full amount I paid! Ugh. Personally, I'll pass in the future, but I would say maybe consider suggesting this place carefully or have a back up plan ready if you're...
Read moreOk so I’ve had these pies before and after becoming vegan and both of them were fire. I’m so grateful that a place like this exists in Tallahassee. Great pizza at great prices that isn’t garbage papa john or domino’s. The rise of local pizzarias is happening and I think Gaines St Pies is spearheading it. At least for the vegans out there. The temptation pizza is my favorite vegan pizza that I’ve ever had (in the united states). It is rich and creamy, yet sweet and tangy. It’s a classic pizza experiece, but it feels like a gorumet one, and it hits. Every. Time. What doesn’t hit every time is the ordering experience however. 2/3 times I asked and paid for extra vegan “cheese” on the boring custom pizza I ordered to compare Gaines St Pies to the other two pizza joints that offer vegan options (Uncle Maddio’s and Decent) I just never got the extra “cheese.” I don’t complain because it’s great anyways, but it took me putting EXTRA CHEESE PLEASE on every special order box in all caps like 10 times for me to get the extra cheese haha. It’s just something to note. Ironically, this isn’t reflected in the customer service which is usually great. The location, layout, and decor is fantastic as well. This is my favorite pizza place. I’m loyal to them, so please keep experimenting with more vegan style pizzas! This is my...
