Located on Gaines Street, Warhorse is a relatively spacious bar that connects to Gaines Street Pies. This is a brilliant, delicious, and dangerous combination for those with little self control. After a few well crafted drinks it is hard to resist also ordering a pizza or garlic knots when one can smell the scents wafting in and see table side service walking around. Warhorse offers a large whiskey list, as can be assumed since it's a whiskey bar. Their menu breaks the whiskeys down by where they are from and offer a good selection between well known favorites and specialty whiskeys. Beers from local breweries such as Proof Brewing are also available on tap, as well as a decent selection of bottled or canned beers. The crowd is fun and goofy, and the there actually was decent among of space for the band. The staff had a hard time keeping up with the large crowd on a Tuesday, but they would eventually get to everyone. But their old fashion leaves much to be desired. The couple of times I have been there, the bartenders haven't really felt whiskey bar like, more college bar like. While the comic book theme is cool and all, it's just odd for a whiskey bar you think dark and heavy wood features when you think whiskey bar, or at least I do.
But even with that crisicism, I'd still give them 4/5 because they do fill a void in the area, and they have a good happy hour. Plus being connected with Gaines street pies. It's not like I wouldt come back here, it's just I wanted something else when...
