Great place but this morning visit (my 5th visit) there was the worst experience. By far. I honestly came there for their sausage potato quiche, which is great for the most part. But i also decided to order a cafe con leche coffee, iced. I had to wait a total of 25 minutes before walking out the door with my order. The quiche came to me immediately, but after i noticed that patrons behind me were getting their coffee and leaving i had to inquire about my order, which is when i must have feel through the cracks. He made my coffee, but it was a hot coffee, i had to re-iterate that i ordered it iced (which was a little extra cost). He finally made it, and that was good, outside of the 25 minute wait. Next the quiche, the last two times i had it, was the best breakfast i have ever had from any coffee shoppe. This one was literally burnt. I had one of the edge slices so 3/4 of the food was hard so i had to tear it apart just to eat the center of it. I should have inspected it before i came back to my office to get this corrected but i assumed that it was gonna be of the same quality of my last two visits. As i am typing this i am looking at the scraps of my breakfast and i honestly dont want to take pic of this and let this pic represent the usual experience of the cafe. But after i type this, i am going to call, because the amount of money i paid and time was wasted, at least my order should have been right. Would have been 5 stars but this visit...
Read moreUnfortunately this will be the last time I ever come here. I wish it ended on a positive note, but it does not. I have been going to Catalina for nearly five years. What always stood out was the amazing coffee, delicious food, and top notch employees! Yet, since this past summer I noticed all three of those have dropped in preparation, taste, and personality. I was surprised the first time I noticed. Shrugging it off as an off day, but it became the new normal. Every time I went it was disappoint after disappointment. The coffee did not taste the same and my order was always wrong (paying extra every time for extra meat and never getting extra meat). After continuing to go for the remainder of the fall, becoming less and less eager to go I have completely switched over to Starbucks. I went to Catalina just yesterday to give it a final shot... I left disappointed. I never leave a review, but I feel as though it is an obligation of a once loyal customer to inform management and the owner of why I won't becoming back. I appreciate the past 5 years (wish there were more) of Mr. Williams and the Turkey sandwiches and most of all making my mornings. I wish Catalina the best! If you haven't gone, give them a try. Still five stars...
Read moreReally awesome place in a cool and convenient downtown location. I work midnights, so it's nice to be able to go straight to work and get a great cup of coffee and a warm meal. They've got lots of outdoors seating, but with the cold weather it's nice to dine inside. The atmosphere is great and super fitting for Gaines St, and the staff is very friendly.
But, onto the (literal) meat and potatoes of the review, the food and coffee were absolutely delicious. I ordered a Zoe's Revenge, which is a white chocolate latte, and it's damn near the best latte I've had the pleasure of sipping on. Complementing my coffee, I got the open-faced lox sandwich and it made for a tangy and filling start for my day. It's really hard to find bagels and lox in town! I'm glad that they not only serve them here, but that they're also positively delicious. I'd heartily recommend this to anyone looking for a bite to eat in the morning, or a cup of coffee at any...
