We have finally given up on Thai Kitchen. When we first started going there about 5 years ago they were fantastic. Not very spicey but authentic flavors and good sized portions with reasonable prices. About one year later the dishes were completely different and not good and portions were getting smaller and smaller. We've gone back a few times hoping that they would get better again. Today was the last straw. We ordered shrimp pad thai and Panange curry with chicken. The portions were tiny. the pad thai barely filled a small bowl, had 4 shrimps and no flavor. The Panange curry was mostly coconut milk (the dish did not fill the take out container and coconut milk was 1/3 of that) with some vegetables, slight spice and a little flavor, 7 tiny slivers of chicken. For $25 absolutely ridiculous. We are sad that the quality and quantity of what once was a good restaurant is gone.
My husband and I have had incredible and authentic Thai food in Asia, Houston, New York, Atlanta and other cities and homemade Thai food at friends houses. 5 years ago this restaurant's food tasted like very good Thai homecooking. It is nothing like that now.
It was clear that the owners do not want people to dine in. The chairs and tables were pushed up against the wall. A family came in who wanted to dine while we were waiting for our food and were reluctantly allowed to stay. A sad and completely different experience than we had...
Read moreThis is our go-to spot for Asian cuisine. It's located in an unassuming plaza next to Home Goods on North Thomasville Road. The food is made fresh to order and the serving sizes are generous. We are in there at least once a week and the owner/servers know us by name. They often anticipate what we'll order when we call for pick-up. This is not your typical food. It can be spicy or mild depending on what you prefer. Their fried rice is not greasy, but is packed with flavor. My 3-year-old loves their food so much, we used them to cater her 3rd birthday party. Beats Chinese food hands-down. Fresh, clean, and you know what you're getting. This place can be packed sometimes on a Friday night, but we have never had to wait long. I don't think I've had anything from them that I didn't like. From soups, to noodle dishes, to rice dishes, to curry dishes. All the flavors are on point. Also, the prices are reasonable especially for what you get. So many of these restaurants are charging $15, $16, up to $20 for a dish and you can leave feeling like you had an appetizer. That's fine for some, but not for people who have a fast metabolism or like to eat. So if you're looking for something savory to eat, this is the spot. Oh, and you'll likely have leftovers for lunch or a snack...
Read moreMy husband and I have both had Thai food a number of times before (and even made a few dishes at home), but this was our first time at this particular restaurant. We were on our way to go shopping at Home Goods next door, and stopped to look at the menu in their window, and decided to treat ourselves to lunch out with our kids before going home. We both chose chicken meals from the lunch menu, which came with a choice of soup or salad, for only $9. The portions were huge & so filling, and so delicious. Honestly, some of the best food we've ever had, period. I loved my spicy cashew chicken with Jasmine rice, and my husband's spicy chicken noodle bowl was so good too (although he made a huge faux pas by eating before taking a photo 😆) Amazing flavors, and just the right amount of spice. Our girls (4 & 1) shared the kids fried rice, and I tried it as well, and it was so good too. We were both happy dancing while eating, and just kept marvelling over how good it all was, and congratulating ourselves on our great choices. This was our first visit, but it will not be our last; we're already trying to plan when...
