Looking for a quick bite after a long morning, we decided on Tijuana Flats. Similar to Chipotle and Moes, in its ordering style, Tijuana Flats is a fast casual Mexican restaurant chain that has been providing good, reliable, fast, and affordable food. We started off the with Atom Bombs, a mixture of cream cheese and jalapenos in a flour tortilla, and an order of chips and queso. The Atom Bombs were very underwhelming, the flavors went together well but the tortilla needed to be crispier. The tortilla's lacked any texture other than mush. The queso was very good, packed with authentic flavor and was not too spicy. We then tried the Steak Quesadilla and two orders of Chicken Tacos. The Quesadilla was filled with flavor, the cheese was warm and delicious, filling every bite with gooey goodness. We topped this with tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream, and onions. The Chicken Tacos had a good flavor. The options for the chicken were either blackened or chipotle. In both dishes, we opted for chipotle chicken. The chicken was marinaded well and tasted a bit like tomatoes as well as other traditional tex-mex spices. Flour tortillas were pretty large, containing a large amount of meat and toppings. Every entree is served with a side of chips which were lightly seasoned with salt and pepper and were perfectly crispy. They went well with every dish. We ended the meal with the cookie dough flautas. They were perfectly crispy and the cookie dough was soft and warm. Served with a warm chocolate syrup and a decent amount of powdered sugar. It was an excellent dessert, but stay away if you do not enjoy very sweet desserts! Tijuana Flats is a nice tex-mex fast casual restaurant chain, that serves up a dish you can count on. -Bradley and Charles, two friends who...
Read moreIt had been a long while since my family of 4 ordered from a restaurant so we decided to try Tijuana Flats for the first time. Seeing as how it would be my first visit I called in advance to ask about the size of the nacho plate. I was told that it was huge and would be enough to be considered a meal. So I ordered 4 different ones along with some dessert and a cool looking bottle of hot sauce. I got there early and had time to feel out the environment. I got to say it was really cool and relaxed. That hot sauce bar is by far the coolest thing I've seen in a while. Everyone in the restaurant was nice and attentive. I received my 2 bags of food and I'm not going to lie I felt the weight and became a bit concerned. I got the food home and we spread it on the table for everyone to just eat as they pleased. Looking at the nachos we thought they forgot to put the meat on them. After digging for a second we found a small amount on top of the chips and under all the other toppings. I know inflation is hitting but I paid $80 for chips lettuce tomatoes and a very small dollop of protein. What we had was very good and very fresh but I think the person on the phone may eat like a bird if they thought 2 people would get full off that box. The churro bites and cookie flautas were just ok. They both were a little too greasy. Oh and we had a quesadilla with chicken and beans. It wasn't anything to write home about but it was ok. The outside wasn't grilled just a white flour tortilla that was microwaved with the filling. Besides the environment and the hot sauce bar the experience definitely wasn't worth $80. I wouldn't mind trying the other things on the menu but I can't see myself spending that kind of money again when I could feed 10 people by...
Read moreDuring a recent road trip stop in Tallahassee, while waiting for our Tesla to charge, my husband and I went to try Tijuana Flats for a late lunch, and we were pleasantly surprised! I opted for the shrimp bowl, accompanied by tortilla chips and an unsweetened tea, while my husband enjoyed the steak crispy tacos. Both meals were flavorful, fresh, and just what we needed to refuel for the road ahead.
What sets this place apart, besides its convenient location (perfect for a quick stop if you're charging your vehicle), is the impressive selection of Mexican hot sauces. The variety available is fantastic, catering to all preferences, whether you favor mild and flavorful or hot and spicy. The self-serve hot sauce bar allows you to customize your meal to your liking, adding an enjoyable, personalized touch to the dining experience.
The ambiance is casual and welcoming, with vibrant decor that adds to the overall enjoyment of the meal. The staff was friendly and efficient, making our brief visit a memorable one. For anyone looking for a quick, tasty, and satisfying meal, I highly recommend Tijuana Flats in Tallahassee. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this spot is definitely...
