Waffle House — Restaurant in Tallahassee

I never expect much from any Waffle House, but this particular one was absolutely, hands down the most filthy & disgusting one I've ever seen! There was food all over the floor behind the counter & under the grill. I bet they hadn't swept or mopped those floors in months! The booth was dirty & sticky. The ketchup bottle had disgusting old ketchup & God knows what else stuck all over it. The napkin dispenser looked like it had never been cleaned since opening day. It had caked food & other grime all over it. The waitress didn't even know the menu. We had to repeat or explain our orders numerous times & show her on the menu what we wanted. When the food came, two of the three orders was wrong. There was only one other table of four in the entire restaurant. The cook brought us our food. We had to ask another girl who was stocking for drink refills & jelly. Our waitress finally made an appearance as we were standing up to leave to throw the check on the table. The bathroom was quite lacking as well. The water barely trickled out, the sink was disgusting, the paper towel roll was placed on the back of the dirty sink by the hot water handle. They were wet from people washing their hands & splattered...

I love the food when I can get it. 4 different times I've tried to place pickup orders, and the phone goes to voice mail saying they are busy call back later....I did 12 times, then I go up to the restraint where I'm met with hostility and annoyance, they claim the phone was off the hook, but that's not the case, they set it to go to voice mail so they don't have to work. Once I showed up at the restraint it clearly wasn't to busy to take a call and I get rude mocking responses from the employees , no offer to make the situation right just bs lies about the phone not working when, oh what do you know they are all of a sudden able to take calls after I inform them, as if someone switched something and the phones work again. The food is good, and I'm a patient person, but the level of disrespect and inability to own up to mistakes infuriated me and I'll tell this story to anyone who wants to listen, waffle house doesn't give 2 piles of waffle batter...

We love to come to Waffle House late around midnight only because of the exceptional service and food from the cashier/cook Markel. On this night, he was alone with a full house. We usually come every other night and there is typically 2 people working. 6 groups of people came and left because of not being patient enough to wait and markel did his best to keep a smile and attend to all the customers even with the circumstances. Waffle House management definitely needs to do better in getting help for their employees. I give the restaurant 1 star but I give Markel 5 stars for the hard work and dedication he has for his job.
