Gorditos — Restaurant in Tampa

Amazingly tasty empanadas! The grand opening is next week and I stopped by last night to order a couple of empanadas and an Agua Fresca. The empanadas are $4.50, which is a bit more than average and they’re maybe a little smaller than typical empanada places I visit. BUT the flavor and how much filling is in the empanadas makes you just want to enjoy eating them. Great job!!! I ordered the beef and the mojito pork. First bite of the pork, wow! Just a rich mouthful of pork, seasoning and garlic. Empanada was full of meat too! The popular, local empanada places offer a larger empanada but definitely way less filling than Gorditos. We had 30 minutes to kill before our brunch cruise and decided to get a snack before hand. We ordered 2 empanadas and a mucho mango. We waited almost the entire 30 minutes for those items. I told the worker that i didnt have much more time to wait because we had to board and she said “its not my fault you waited 10 minutes before you had to board to get food” when we timed it fine. didnt know it would take 30 minutes for 2 empanadas. She proceeded to say she couldnt refund me after i asked for a refund on the shaved ice because the first one she made fell apart. Im a GM of a restaurant and felt this wasn't handled properly. This is one of the little restaurant stands at the front of Sparkman Wharf. This restaurant is focused on empanadas, and you can choose from six flavors, sauces, and shaved ice. The service was friendly and got our food in a timely manner.

All the food offered from Gorditos can be mixed in how good they taste. I enjoyed my own food, but the other person in my party personally didn’t enjoy the empanadas. The sauces were a nice touch, though. Overall, would consider other places in...
