Fun place and atmosphere at Sparksman Warf in channelside, downtown Tampa. Several outdoor food stands with a nice vari ety of food choices. Dang Dude says it is asian street food. Having lived in Hawaii and visited Hong Kong and China I have had a good variety of asian cuisine so wanted to try Dang Dude, especially after a local food writer in Tampa recommended it.
Ordered steamed pork dumplings, the crushed cucumber salad and yaki udon noodles with 5 spice pork.
Steamed dumplings are a favorite having eating dim sum many, many times. These came with very tender wrappers, and a salty kind of fun, chunky sauce. The filling though was mostly chopped veggys and very little texture. Kind of disappointing.
The crushed cucumber salad (interesting name) came in a vinegary sauce with chilis, sesame and a good amount of cilantro. I liked the heat and flavors were good. Maybe a little too much vinegar, at least for me. It kind of got tiring due to the vinegar.
The yaki udon was perhaps the star of the 3 dishes with real thick udon noodles which I love. The sauce was mild as expected but with good depth. The generous portion of 5 spice pork was ground instead of chunks but tasty if not a bit too salty. Overall though a good, satisfying dish.
For my taste at least, a few tweaks on the dishes tried would really improve them. That said, i will go back and try a few other items as I really enjoy this type of food.
Final comment on this location. I/we ate lunch at this outdoor location and they play music constantly. Very loud music such that we had to almost shout to hear each other. Wish they would turn it down a little or better yet let people enjoy the sounds...
Read moreLooking for a food stand that will blow your mind? Look no further than Dang Dude! This Asian fusion gem is serving up some seriously delicious eats. I ordered the Dan Dan Chilled Noodle Bowl, which was unlike anything I've ever tasted before. The chilled noodles were a refreshing change from the usual hot noodle dishes, and the flavors were out of this world.
But the real star of the show were the Brown Sugar Dry Rub Asian Wings. The dry rub was perfectly balanced and had just the right amount of sweetness. And don't even get me started on the sauce that came with it - it took those wings to a whole new level of deliciousness.
But what really sets Dang Dude apart is their exceptional service. When I asked about a military discount, they didn't have one, but still went out of their way to thank me for my service and gave me a discount anyway. And to top it off, they even threw in two extra wings for me!
Thanks to Erick and his coworker (whose name I unfortunately can't remember, I think it was fredrick), I had an unforgettable dining experience. If you're in the mood for some seriously good food and even better service, do yourself a favor and check out Dang Dude. You...
Read moreOn 4/11/25 at 2:15 pm my husband complained about his double fried Korean wings & chicken Bao buns. My husband doesn’t eat beef nor pork, so when he says “the Bao buns are not chicken” he’s usually right. Also, if the chicken wings are still pale covered with sauce , then they’re probably not “double fried”. The server at the Escape Brewery location, Trinity FL stated the double fried Korean chicken wings are NOT actually double fried and only a Korean sauce is used. When my husband asked for a refund he was told a manager was not on shift & no refunds are allowed with the manager off duty. The server did not offer to re make the dishes. The expectation was for my husband to “eat” their mistake. So, out of disappointment my husband returned the $18.00 food without a refund. Hopefully he doesn’t get sick from consuming what looked like beef or pork Bao buns and pale chicken wings. I do NOT recommend this vendor at the...
