I rarely take the time to do reviews, but this experience was a joke.
My son and I were hungry and I was not going to spend another $20 on dinner, which this dinner should have been leftovers for the next day as well⦠Anyways, so we ate a small portion of our order, but I threw majority of the food away.
It was hard to throw so much food away knowing whatās going on in Haiti and Palestine today, but when I made it to my car, I saw a trash and disposed of the meal. I couldnāt even offer this to a homeless person.
I am Haitian, (my mother and her entire side of the family is Haitian. I was raised in the culture and vacationed in Haiti. My grandmother is the best Haitian cook. Our family travels and returns back to wherever with food cooked by grandma. Serious business.) and from Miami, this food was not fresh.
Our order was white rice, sauce paw (bean sauce) and fried turkey.
The food didnāt have the rich flavoring (Ć©pices) it shouldāve had, typical and basic of Haitian food. The rice had this oil to it and tasted off, the sauce pwa, not seasoned and the consistency was off. Turkey was blandā¦š©
The positive reviews throw me off, because I went there based on them.
All I can say is they donāt know real Haitian authentic cuisine. Might need a trip to Miami if anything.
Also, I thought I was leaving to eat elsewhere but I ended up seating there and quickly eating with my little one before heading back to work, the woman at the front didnāt bother to offer us an actual plate to eat. The hospitality wasnāt there and I left it at that.
I Went to the restroom to wash my hands and it looked like a squatters / trap house bathroom. š©
Disheartening experience.
I wish I took pictures, but yāall can go and see / experience if for yourselves.
Today Iām just gonna go to fresh kitchen. š« šš½
Iād like to end this on a positive note, I did like the small portion of picklyz added to our order. And to the owners of this business, thereās always room for improvement if...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLet me tell you about this hidden gem in Tampa that had me doing a happy dance in my truck! Iām a truck driver, and trust me when I say this: I know good food. I was craving Haitian food so bad, and this spot didnāt just satisfy meāit blew my mind. Itās been a minute since Iāve had Haitian food (shoutout to Hollywood, Florida), but this place took me right back with every single bite.
I walked in thinking Iād grab a plate and leave. Nope. I left $70 lighter because I bought everything. The sauces? Yup, had to take āem. The food? Letās just say I needed a moment of silence after the first bite. Every. Single. Bite. was like a party in my mouth where the guest list was just pure flavor.
Not only was the food fire, but the customer service was top-tier too. They treated me like family. And then the lady hit me with the cherry on top: āSome days, we teach people how to dance Kompa!ā (Okay, I may have butchered that spelling, but you get it.) Now, I wasnāt there for the dance lessons, but the thought of dancing after a meal this good? Sensual, beautiful, and probably hilarious after all that food. Iāll definitely be back for that!
If youāre in Tampa and you donāt stop here, we canāt be friends. Do yourself a favor: pull up, fill up, and thank me later!
Sorry for the late post. I ate there yesterday and Iām enjoying my food that I bought for the next day right now so Iām just excited and Iām happy thank you so much. Oh just so you know I got: Tassle turkey black beans that are off the chain, all the pickles that they could find The (spicy coleslaw stuff for people that donāt know.) And for the other meal I got To go , I got Legume with rice. I got three single bottles of hot sauce, different flavors and I got one huge mason jar of their sauce that you can eat with like bread and like another meats and also got the ginger beer I was so happy and Iām about to be super happy right now. About to eat this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent on Motherās Day with friends to try this place. I was really apprehensive about it. We sat down and noticed few people pick up their orders without problems. Minutes later the gentleman acknowledged us and told us he would be right with us. He was really polite, took our orders and he brought soup joumou as a free appetizer for us. Man ! That was delicious! So I got truly exited. We ordered fried fish , rice and beans , Tasso and fritay. Everything was excellent ! The fried plantains are not the fresh kind , so that was a bit disappointing . However , the akra, marinad, tasso and fish were on point. The pikliz was superb. That rice tough is to die for. We had to ask to meet the cooks for that was truly amazing food. Found out that Pierre our server was actually the owner . Thank you guys for making our Motherās Day so special. The ambiance is basic , but we were grateful there werenāt any crazy loud music as experienced elsewhere . Sorry for the long review , but this place truly deserves a shot out. Wish you all the success, and although itās a long drive from me I definitely...
