Edited to add, WOB is fast to respond here and ask for you to reach out to give more info. I did, twice. Both of my emails were ignored. 🤷🏻♀️
We just visited Tampa for USF Family Weekend. I absolutely insisted on visiting WOB, because it was so amazing when we were there in August. Things were so off today that I was embarrassed at having insisted that we go. It was HORRIBLE! First was the wait. We waited for just over an hour for a table, although the place was half empty. Brooke, the hostess, was so pleasant and really went out of her way to try to find a table for us. There were plenty available, but they there were no people to bus tables so we just sat. And waited, and waited, and waited. I almost cleared it myself. When we were finally seated, it took a good 5 minutes before a server came and another 10 before we got drinks. Then, we were warned that the kitchen was backed up and there would be a long wait for the food. More waiting? We literally witnessed another table of frustrated diners just get up and leave while waiting on their food. At the time, the place was half empty at least. When we finally selected our food, we were told that although it was 1:45 (we arrived at 12:30), we couldn't order off of the full menu. They don't offer that until 2 and we had to order off of the very limited lunch/brunch menu. No problem. We t ried to order the chicken and waffle sandwich. Out of chicken and waffles. OK. Decided on wings (there is a sign on the table that on Saturday and Sunday starting at kick off, there's 99 cent wings). They're OUT OF WINGS. Fine. Burger it is. Asked if they at least had boneless wings. Yes, but they're out of Buffalo sauce. Huh? It's literally hot sauce and butter! How can you have a weekend wing special and NO wings?? Fine. We will take boneless with lemon pepper. The wait for the apps was great, we didn't wait long. The food though, took at least 30 minutes. At this time, the place is 3/4 empty. The food FINALLY comes and we're all starving since we've been there for 2 hours. We start eating and the people with burgers are annoyed that the medium burgers are over cooked to the point of being inedible. Charcoal. The tater tots turned to dust when we squeezed them. How infuriating! By this time, we're an hour behind for getting on the road to get home, and there is NO way we're waiting another 30 minutes to get new food. We asked for the manager. By the way, at this point, we still don't have the boneless wings. We asked for a manager. The wings come and guess what? They're WINGS! Over fried, but still wings. Amazing that they suddenly had those. The manager finally comes and we show him the bricks of charcoal they called burgers. It's upsetting that the chef thought they could put that trash on a bun and send it out. The manager offered no apology. He didn't even look surprised at the quality of the food! He offered to remake them and we declined so he said he'd take the burgers off of the check. Well, thank you so very much for not charging us for our inedible food. 🙄 Brooke was wonderful, the pretzel was awesome, the atmosphere is great, the chef needs a new job and the place is in need of someone that can manage the staff. Please fix these issues, I really like it there and I really...
Read moreI reached out to the general manager at the Fowler location at 2815 Fowler Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33612 around 9:21 p.m. about remaking an order that I received on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 10:08 p.m. I wanted to go into further detail about the severely negative experience that I had at his restaurant location. When I brought up the request to replace my food order, I was told in a rude and disrespectful manner, “There’s nothing I can do about it, four days later!” However, it had only been three days since the visit. I explained that I work in the healthcare industry and work a hectic schedule. Therefore, I was unable to contact the location and bring it to their attention or visit in person because I work 12 hour shifts at a local Tampa Bay area hospital. However, let’s dive into the negative experience, at hand. First, I placed the to-go order on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 10:08 p.m. for the Burger Monday special. I was asked what I wanted on my burger but how I wanted the burger to be cooked, temperature wise (keep this in mind for the future reference and explanation). Afterwards, I paid for said order and was given a 30-40 minute wait because the kitchen was “slammed” this night. Following, I proceed to go outside and make a phone call to my immediate family while I waited on my food. Then, 30-45 minutes passed and I wasn’t alerted by any of the staff members. No one approached me and asked if I needed any help or if I was waiting on anything. I was literally treated by the staff including managers in the vicinity as if I was invisible. After the 1 hour mark, I went back inside to inquire about a status update on the order, the bartender that took said order was completely puzzled, due to forgetting about my to go order. He walked around the corner that I’m assuming, the staff members place to go orders and retrieves it. I received the order and asked about additional condiments and plastic ware, which I received a rude attitude, in response. Due to being tired and hungry after attending orientation and moving, I went home to enjoy my meal. To my shocking discovery, I started reading my kitchen ticket of my order which stated: Monday Burger or BYO Burger, medium well, Chipotle Mayo, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and caramelized onions. As a result, I called for a replacement meal because of the negative experience and horrible food quality. Additionally, I was charged a packaging fee on the to go order of $0.99, which I’ve never experienced at any other location. I have been a very loyal customer to the World of Beer brand but I have never had such a negative experience than this one at the Fowler location. From the general manager to the entry level employees, I have experienced rude and disrespectful behavior and attitudes. So, I am requesting a full refund on the meal, if not, any other further...
Read moreMy family and I decided to make an appearance at world of beer this Wednesday for their weekly trivia night for some good food and even better beer, and being this was my first time at world of beer, but other than our server who was very attentive and on top of everything, the service was just lack luster. The food was great, we had ordered the Mac and cheese bites and a German pretzel for appetizers and only few of us were hungry so we only got 2 entrees: a Caesar Salad with chicken, and a medium rare “Mac bite” burger. The issue is that we didn’t see our food for over an hour after ordering. Now I would almost understand it taking this long had 6 of us ordered all well done steaks, but a salad and a medium rare burger should not have taken the at long regardless the foot traffic. On top of that, when I was brought my beer by a food runner, she didn’t even know the name of the beer, this was very informal given that the NAME of the restaurant is “World of beer”, yet an employee has zero clue what beer they’re dropping off to their guests. Upon receiving our food after the hour wait I had asked to speak to with a supervisor about this wait that I’m sure plenty others endowed, his response was very unprofessional as he stated “sorry, we are really trying our best here” and then proceeded to give no compensation until requested, and the compensation given was a free appetizer Available for use on our NEXT visit as if we would want to come back after this service, which really is a let down because the food was great. I can understand a 30 minute wait on food when it is really busy but an hour wait for two entrees is absolutely unacceptable. Maybe a different location would change my mind but as a first time guest here the service was unacceptable. If one hour for a salad and a burger is “their best” then I would really hate to dine here on the weekend. I’m not writing this review in hopes of getting anyone in trouble, I’m writing this as a passionate enthusiast of the culinary world in hopes that my words can help form a better restaurant. My suggestion is having more staff on days you understand the flow of service will be amplified. If you’ve read this review, thank you for giving me your valuable time and thoughts. I hope you have a better experience than I did at World of Beer and stay hungry my friends!
