I recently had the pleasure of stopping by Dunns River Island Café in Tampa for some takeout, and boy, was it a delightful experience! My primary intention was to try their highly recommended fried dumplings, but little did I know that I would end up devouring an entire meal right then and there.
First things first, let's talk about the star of the show - the fried chicken with rice and peas and steamed vegetables. The moment I opened the container, I was instantly greeted by a mouthwatering aroma that tickled my senses. The fried chicken itself was cooked to perfection, boasting a crispy and golden exterior while being unbelievably moist and tender on the inside. It was evident that the chicken had been expertly seasoned, as each bite exuded a delightful explosion of flavors.
The rice and peas served alongside the chicken were spot-on. The rice was flawlessly cooked, separating easily and offering a light and fluffy texture. The addition of kidney beans added a delightful and earthy undertone to the rice, making it a perfect companion for the succulent chicken. Additionally, the steamed vegetables were cooked just right, showcasing their vibrant colors and maintaining a delightful crunch.
I must applaud Dunns River Island Café for their impeccable cooking skills and attention to detail. The entire meal was well-balanced and left me more than satisfied. The flavors were rich, robust, and undeniably delicious. It's evident that the chefs at Dunns River know their craft and are devoted to providing their customers with an exceptional dining experience.
In addition to the delectable food, I cannot overlook the excellent service I encountered at the café. The staff members were warm, friendly, and efficiently handled my takeout order. Even though the place was buzzing with activity, they managed to remain attentive and provided me with timely assistance. Their professionalism and dedication to customer satisfaction were truly commendable.
If you ever find yourself craving a delectable meal in Tampa, I highly recommend stopping by Dunns River Island Café. Whether you're a fan of their fried dumplings or looking to explore their extensive menu, your taste buds are in for a treat. Trust me, you won't be...
Read moreSo sad, so sad. I visited this restaurant because it was referred (from my jamaican relative.) Apparently, I went to the wrong side to order and an aged woman guided me to the right section. At that time, there was a young man who ordering and I was next. As I stood there, 2 jamaican women came in 5 minutes after the fact of me standing there. They were asked b4 me, what would they like. Of course I mentioned that I was already there ( mind you, this is the same woman that guided me and was then taking orders). She was very impatient with me ( there were only 4 patrons dining in at the time). After I ordered, I gave her my debit card. She then asked me for my ID ( immediately) .....condescending to say the least. Okay, I'm very observant, I was looking at the conduct used towards others that were using their cards. This woman said it's their policy to ask for ID. A whole lie and I did let her know in front of the ones ordering, they WERE NOT asked to show theirs. My children own their own church in Tampa ( graduates of U.S.F). I do not live in Tampa. She furthered by overtly talking about me, with 2 other employees turning around. I did NOTHING BUT WANTED A PLATE AFTER CHURCH. I canceled the order and requested my money. You can hurt your own business with this type of stereotyping, bias, rude behavior. I was born here...just by being from another country, these ppl should remember what ostracism feels like. Everything in the earth is the Lord's and the fullness there of....he is the real owner of your business. Keep overtly mistreating, he has the power to sit you high or low or allow the business to go through a drought. I ended up going to Jerk Pit and the service was with a spirit of excellence and the food was amazing. In the future, for good service and good food I'll advise congregations to go to Jerk Pit. Dunns River we, the customers, are your commercial. My treatment was...
Read moreThe food was great! Literally everything we ordered was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious! We ordered the ackee and saltfish cups for appetizer. Delish! I ordered the steamed snapper with lobster tail, rice and peas, and cabbage. Omg it was amazing! And my aunt and uncle both ordered the curry goat and oxtail combo with rice and peas and cabbage. There was not one thing that wasn't absolutely amazing! We also ordered a side of festival which was PERFECT as well! The only complaint I have was my drinks. I ordered a mojito and was told there was nobody that knew how to make it. Which was fine, so I just ordered a jack and ginger ale. Our waitress brought me a jack and ginger beer. (I hate ginger beer lol) so I told her I'm sorry can I get a jack and ginger ale instead of ginger beer please, I don't like ginger beer. She apologizes and brings back another jack and ginger beer and runs off. So I walk over to the bar with the drink and tell the bartender listen I told her twice I ordered ginger ale, not ginger beer and she brought me the same thing twice I thought she understood me but i guess she didn't. He tells me well unfortunately we do not have ginger ale. I say, ok so I'll take a jack and cola. He pours my new drink (for the third time) I get back to the table and take a sip and it's definitely not jack and cola. It tastes like cognac (which I also hate) I tell them this was the third mistake with my drink and they said well I'm sorry but you're going to have to pay for 2 of them I can only take one off. At this point I don't even care because the food was so amazingly good. I will also most definitely be returning because of how delicious it was, but now I just know not to order any drinks from there. We drove an hour and a half for some great Jamaican food because the food in North Port, FL SUCKS, and Dunns River Island Cafe did...
