Decided to try the Soi Restuarant at the Dusit Thani Hotel for my anniversary. Alfredo’s was too expensive and Aqua seemed too general. We settled on the set menu for two people. It started with a Papaya Salad and Fresh Spring Rolls. The salad had fresh cucumbers, green beans and good pickled flavor. The spring rolls came with peanut and vinegar sauces. The next item to arrive was fried shrimp spring rolls. It was accompanied by a sweet sauce and a spicy mayo. The next item was a spicy sour soup with a good hint of lemongrass. The main entree was a traditional Pad Thai with shrimp. Overall, a fair amount of food. Closed out with a coconut pudding and mango sorbet dessert.
My only critique was that the Pad Thai didn’t really have a lot of flavor. It was rather bland even with the additional of lime juice. And the pudding in the dessert was too neutral. It could have done with a little more sweetness.
The service was great and the staff was very friendly. Three tables have the best view of Tumon Bay.
If you go to Soi, order the set menu to get a feeling for the place. But pay close attention to the ala carte items on the menu. There are many more things that can be enjoyed...
Read moreGood food, but overpriced ($21 for a plate of pad Thai) and pleasant but sloooooooow staff. From the time we were done eating to finally getting our checks, it took about 45min and walking up to the front desk twice to ask about it. The place wasn't busy, just two tables total in the entire restaurant had customers. When we walked up the second time to ask for our check and handed over our cards to pay, the waitress didn't process the cards at first. We saw her talking with other staff for a while until we walked up a third time. Then she hurriedly ran our cards but messed up 2/3 of our orders. She had to refund one card and charge the other...but she mixed those up as well and ended up charging my buddy for $20 worth of my food. We gave up and I gave my buddy cash to cover the extra.
Very pleasant and friendly staff, but I haven't seen that much incompetence in a long time.
The interior looks really...
Read moreGreat restaurant. The hostess was nice and accommodating by letting me pick my own table(was end of the night). Loved the ambiance with the low light, the dark colors, and soft music. Service was very good. The menu was a bit odd in my opinion for a Thai restaurant but overall good. My appetizer was very big and was more suited for multiple people(chilled prawn spring roll). It was also more then my entre. My entre was panang curry which wasn't on the menu but the cooks accommodated me. It was just the right portion and spice as well as pretty authentic tasting.
I'm happy to find a good restaurant in Guam because they are limited here. I will say the price is high and will be off-putting to many but it is in a nice hotel so it is what it is. For those that may compare this to the Thai restaurant down the street...Soi is so much better in terms of quality, cleanliness,...
