If nothing else, the appetizers were good. I ordered othe fillet medallions (med-rare) with a baked potato and asparagus. When it arrived, there was also a full rack of ribs on my plate. I definitely didn't order any sort of combo, but I figured maybe I had missed something on the menu, so I went with it. The medallions were under-seasoned and overcooked. They might as well of been sad little hamburger patties. Of the four asparagus that they served me, only three were edible. The fourth being cooked to death. The ribs were dry and bland, only slightly saved by the sauce they were drenched in. Only when my check came did I notice that our server had rung me up for some kind of combo meal that I hadn't actually ordered. Given that I had eaten some of the ribs, I opted not to say anything. In the end, it was way too much money for the quality of what was served. Applebees couldโve given the same for half the price. I don't plan to return. Iโm hoping our server honestly didnโt hear me when I ordered instead of him slipping in an up-sale (despite both of my associates confirming that they heard what I had ordered). That said, both the kicken shrimp and coconut shrimp...
ย ย ย Read moreI arrived around 2030, and was seated promptly. I had the shrimp scampi. Other than there not being very much shrimp (I think there were about 6 or 7), it was very good, tasty, and seasoned right. The bread roll they served me was a bit dry, and I would have really appreciated if a server had asked me if I wanted another one. But they didn't. But the scampi was exactly what I needed, and it hit the target. And the quantity of food was just right. I did observe that I was charged a 10% service charge. I'm not at all sure what that was for, as I normally tip pretty well, but for the life of me, I'm not sure what that $1.90 paid for. I had water, no drinks from the bar, and nothing other than the order. Guam does not have sales tax, to my knowledge. I'd prefer to be the one who decides what I tip, not a restaurant, if that service charge is, in fact, a tip. If it's not, then why don't they simply increase the price of the meal and put it on the menu that way? I feel like I was had, even though it's a very small amount. I'm not sure if other restaurants in Tumon do this - I ate at Hambro's for lunch, and they...
ย ย ย Read moreThe dining room could really use a glow-up. Our table was both sticky and wobbly-a true double threat. Someone had jammed something under it in a noble attempt to stabilize it, but it still felt like eating on a seesaw. Not ideal.
The food, though? Solid. The staff were friendly and mostly attentive, though the hostess kicked things off by giving our party of five just two menus. After a few minutes of awkward sharing, I was able to flag her down for some more.
And then there was the beer. Served in a towering 18-inch plastic tube like it was auditioning for a Vegas pool party. It was $12 and I felt like I needed sunscreen, goggles, and a bendy straw. A true disservice to my cherished Guam Gold...
On the bright side, the dishes and apps were genuinely great. They were out of cheesecake, but the fried Oreos kept the kids happy.
Overall, if they gave the place a little facelift and dialed back the gimmicks, it could be great. I wonโt be dining in again anytime soon, but Iโd happily order takeout and spare myself the wobbly...
