We were attending a tropical themed gathering so my husband (who lived in HI for a few years, years ago) thought it would be a great idea to get some manapua so folks can try it. He decided to give Moki's a try and went in there to order 30 pcs manapua and did it a week before the event. Today he picks this up. Premade, prepackaged, manapuas in their original unopened plastic packaging. It's not frozen anymore but it was cold, like it was in the fridge. Probably thawed out in their fridge. We could have purchased this from any Asian store. This is $13.99 for the pack thats shown in the photos. They charged my husband a whopping $279 for the 30pcs. Amazing. If I wanted to spend $279 on this, I would have made it myself. We have to unpack, essentially heat/cook it ourselves, & plate it. They didn't even have the decency to unpack and plate it so now we have to go get trays for it too! We were under the impression that they made it in-store, from scratch. No one in their right mind would have bought pre-packaged anything for full price. Great scam you're running here guys. At least make it look appetizing next time...
Read moreI won't be spending money here anymore. I've been here a couple times before and I remember the food being decent, expensive, and very salty. It had been 2 years and we decided to try these guys again. I pulled up to the drive through at 8 pm and start ordering when they said they didn't have ANY chicken and they would have to grill some up. They offered to do so, which would be about 20 minutes of waiting. I passed because it was suppose to be a quick dinner pick up and thought I would keep driving down redwood and maybe I might find something else that sounds good for my family. I drove for 30 minutes, and decided I'd return to Mokis as surely they would have teriyaki chicken for my 3 orders now... Well I drove back down and they said they still didn't have chicken and they were not going to make anymore. This blew my mind how this is what their restaurant is known for and how they even let their supply run dry for the day before closing, didn't bother to make any more and turned away all the customers that came between me. That's awful business practice and unfortunate I just won't even try this...
Read moreWe went in for dessert, the place was totally empty inside on a Saturday night, except for the owners who were eating dinner. Even the drive through was empty. The staff were on their cell phones behind the wall where the owners could not see them. We tried the dole pineapple cones. They were super sweet and very melty. We had to hurry and eat them because they were dripping, and we were inside. This was hard to do because they were so sweet. The place was really drab. You could see all the back office supplies in all the back areas. The buffet station was left out and the serving platters for it were left on it. We tried to throw away our napkin, there was no garbage can to be found. The girl saw us looking for one and she turned away while she was sweeping up. We took our trash with us. The decor seemed more like an old drab family hang out than a business. We get that you want people to feel welcome and ohana, but not like they stayed in Hotel California and can never leave. It was sad. For being on such a busy street on a Sat night there was no business. And we...
