Featured on Bar Rescue once but has changed ownership since then I heard, a friend of ours goes here regularly. The atmosphere is pretty laid back but the service is pretty attentive. We had 2 servers rotating checking in on us every 15-30 minutes, which is nice because normally with bars it's more a "you call them" or "come to the bar to order" situation. There were ample amounts of seating, and the vibe was very much laid back and filled with regulars of all types (saw someone studying and drinking in a corner, someone working on a laptop in another corner eating and drinking, saw many people at the bar either catching up or the bartender and owner knew them because they're regulars - all different age ranges). The food was good but not anything I would say was like amazing - can at least vouch for the curly fries, chicken tenders, quesadilla and burgers (in fact, cool part of our visit is we got a free chicken tenders and fries coming in to order because they made extra and needed to use it up - free food is always good food, I say). They have some beer choices (Kilt Lifter, Bud, Miller, Dos Equis, some offerings from Four Peaks and San Tan Brewing Co, Michelob) that we tried on tap that night but it was flat and the options in bottles were limited to the usual (Bud, Corona, Miller, maybe a Heinekin???), which weren't appealing at the time. One of us had a Diet Coke, and that was not flat, so maybe there was an issue with the beer taps that night. The bathrooms were clean and for the woman's bathroom, I had no complaints but my husband was saying that the Men's urinals were high up/made for tall guys (he is 5'10" so an average guy might need to pee upwards or maybe supply a stool - on second thought...probably not the best idea at a bar where people are more likely to get uncoordinated and not balance well on stools...) Either way, I would say if you're looking for a chill bar to go to catch up with people, with work, with school or just chill, this bar is for you. Also, this bar is near the 60, the 101 and near ASU with adequate parking around (considering the area) - centrally located for people meeting up from around the valley. For me, I gave it an average rating because I do have other bars in my area or around the valley that are my go-tos or I have to - when I am in the area - stop by. This one was just okay for me and wasn't one I saw myself...
Read moreHonest review. Start with the good. Brown paper bags beers are awesome. Thats all I enjoyed.
Queso was literally liquid milk. I'll upload my video. It had the same consistency hot, or cold. We live in Arizona and I cannot believe you guys gave me some jalapeno milk and called it queso.
They have the best wings in the valley according to Phoenix New Times.. and that might be true, but the garlic parmesan wings were BUNS. They have a very detailed menu, I READ IT. I specifically chose parmesan garlic Saucy wings and I even said I wanted the Saucy ones, they came out dry to a crisp, and they had no parmesan garlic sauce to offer. Let's keep in mind that these were voted the best wings, and that they're listed under the sauce category, and there's a whole other garlic item for the less messy wings options, and I know this isn't Buffalo Wild Wings, but if you don't have a garlic Parmesan sauce it shouldn't be listed on your menu that it's available, and if you don't have a garlic Parmesan sauce to offer and you're just sprinkling cheese on top of some dry wings, and I need to add hot honey sauce, then it's not a garlic parmesan wing. Thats dumb. Are you kidding me?
I feel like I wasted my money on this food. What sucks even worse is that I went to Doc and Eddie's for music Bingo but I stopped here because they had better food for their photos on Yelp. I don't even care if you guys reach out I'm not coming back. Go look at my video and fix your queso. Fix your menu and remove the garlic parmesan wings from the sauce category, I wasted $30 there that could have been better spent on a chalupa...
Read moreWe’d been wanting to stop into Brick & Barley Neighborhood Bar for quite a while. Having already tried some other establishments in same shopping center on Baseline Road. We stopped in for an after-movie bite and check them out. I started our meal with an ice-cold draft Haus Amber Ale and looking through a very extensive, varied and tempting menu decided on us both getting the Mushroom & Swiss Burgers (she medium, me medium rare) and an order of sweet potato fries and their onion rings. The fully loaded burgers were perfectly cooked and juicy, but lacked seasoning, the onion rings were crispy with the right amount of breading, but tasteless seasoning and the onions were bland, the sweet potato fries were OK. Our afternoon meal was OK overall for what would be expected. Then after having later found that the former ‘Baseline Sports Bar’ had been part of a TV ‘Bar Rescue’ in July 2016 and now under new ownership, something appears to not seem to have turned out for the better from that happening. The huge number of TVs, clean and nicely appointed pool tables, game machines, great looking bar, generous menu, and excellent beer offerings was enormously arrested by our surrounding atmosphere where we were subjected to the most brazenly vulgar, imprudent, and forthright customer service (not all staff) I have experienced in any eating establishment! And some customers in my vicinity weren’t much better! Caveat emptor - this is definitively a neighborhood bar, but not a family bar. If you are looking for a rowdy, adult bar scene with decent food and entertainment, this is it....
