I heard that Cupbop had recently opened in Tempe near the ASU campus so I thought why not try it after hearing about it on social media? I've seen clips of cupbop's food and they do look delicious. Upon arriving, I noticed that it was like a Chipotle where you can build your own order. Since it was my first time, I didn't know what to order so I took some time reading the menu. There were options where you can get a cup with fried chicken or bulgogi beef or vegetarian with varying spice levels. However, I wish that on the menu there was a list of what meats you can order instead of it just being a menu item that has a different choice of meat. I ordered the 'combo bop' with bulgogi beef and tangy fried chicken with 7.5 spicy level. 7.5 spice level was not very spicy to me as there was some sweetness to it, but people have different spice tolerance so it may be spicy to some. My cup also came with noodles, cabbage mix, and rice. Overall, the food itself was delicious, however, nothing really stood out. The beef and noodles tasted very similar to other Korean restaurants that I had. In my opinion, Cupbop could add more menu items or perhaps add more vegetable choices like pickled radishes. I think if it is said to be "Korean BBQ in a Cup," there could be more choices of meats like seafood. Nevertheless, this place would be great for a quick lunch because of the limited menu choices. I'd rate this...
Read moreDidn’t get to try the food. Me and my girlfriend went and ordered two of the B Bop bowls, and some pot stickers. We were told that the beef wasn’t ready yet and it would be about 15-minutes. The manager (or owner) was there and had mentioned “sorry we just got it in”. We order, pay, and sit down to wait. 20minutes go by and the guys at the counter ask us if we’re going to order. We told them we were still waiting on the order we placed but the beef apparently was still being prepared. The guy goes in the back, comes back out and says “guys it’s going to be awhile. It’s still frozen solid” and then tries to see if maybe we want to order something else so it doesn’t take as long. We attempted to try the chicken, which was one of the most disgusting things I’ve seen, and eaten in awhile. He said they had the potstickers as well, and could make bowls with those instead. So we asked if our food besides the potstickers and drink we had gotten could be refunded and we could just leave with the potstickers, and go somewhere else.
“Oh sorry, the pot stickers are going to be a little bit”
You spent too much money on your hats, you should focus on operating a restaurant that actually...
Read moreMy wife and I were visiting the area while on vacation. Being that we both love Korean food, we jumped at the opportunity to try Cupbop. What could’ve and even should’ve been a wonderful experience turned into a culinary disaster. We both ordered rice bowls, and the meats and sauces were decent. However, as someone who is Korean, this was an insult to my ancestors as well as my future generations. There is no excuse for undercooked, hard rice when your whole concept is in fact, rice bowls. Additionally, the glass noodles were also undercooked. They were hardened and infused with flavors of malcontent and disappointment. I understand that not every dish is going to be 10/10, but we paid for food that was reminiscent of something out of a dirty microwave at 2am. The staff was friendly and delivered the food in a timely fashion, but I would not recommend this place under any...
