Seriously an amazing stadium. There's huge stairs to climb up to get to the stadium. It feels like someone added a stair case to a mountain. The field was well groomed. There was tons of room and seating. Even though I was there for graduation, they had concession stands open for refreshments during the ceremony. They had an amazing sound system. They had a huge movie screen display to see close ups. It was clean and easy to find your seats. The only issue was a pretty major one. The turning lane getting in from our direction only had one lane turning into it so there was 45 minute backup on the road leading to it. It was insane. Also, as drivers were in line in that one lane, other inconsiderate drivers were taking the other lane to try to jump up in line and causing everyone to have even worse back up and a lot of frustration. There were many graduates hoping out of their cars and running instead AND they made it on foot well before those in vehicles. It was extremely bad trying to get into the parking lot. Also when you made it to the parking lot, there was not enough guides so it was chaos. The walk up to the stadium, while beautiful was very long. Getting out was easy but getting there was a traffic nightmare!!!!! Even with extra time planned to get there early. I would not want to imagine how the traffic would be for a football game. I think with the volume of traffic that is all arriving at the same time for events, they need to come up with a better system of getting on to the property. So the stadium itself is beautiful, raised up on the mountain. But the frustration getting there was intense. I struggled deciding how many stars because of that. But I based the # of stars on the stadium itself. But the entrance was a big enough problem that I considered giving fewer stars. It wasn't a traffic issue. It was the entrance into the stadium that created a...
Read moreI am a big college football fan and a long follower of ASU. This isn't as much a knock on SDS as it is the ticket sales department. Went to the Spring Game. Had a positive experience so I pondered finally making the leap to purchase season tickets for the first time. I was given a pamphlet which had all the information needed, and which showed a very affordable ticket package as being available. So, a few days later, my wife and I call to see about purchasing. We are told we can pay a deposit to guarantee seats. We do so and are invited on a tour of SDS. The experience there was fantastic and further sold us on purchasing the tickets. We go to close the deal and say we wish to purchase the cheapest seats they had listed as being available in the phamplet. To our surprise, we are told the cheap seats we wanted are "sold out" and are instead promoted to sign up for a more expensive package. As we are driving home later that day, we hear a commercial on 98.7 radio promoting purchase of ASU season tickets and that they are indeed available at the price we were informed were "sold out." After eventual pondering, we decide to pass on season tickets because of this and call to cancel. As we do cancel, we are informed that the deposit is "non refundable." This was not established to us when we placed it and it felt like all along the way, we were given a bit of a run around. Unfortunate things went down as they did because I am an ASU fan first and would have loved to start a tradition of taking my grandson to games live. However being told something isn't available when it is as a method to land the higher sale and not being told about a deposit being non refundable are two facets that really had me reconsider getting season tickets this year and have me really questioning even giving consideration to doing so...
Read moreI live in the area now and I love college football. I finally got to visit this stadium and see the Sun Devils take on the UCF knights! It was early November and the weather was just perfect for football. The game started right around 5pm and we got to see an amazing Arizona sunset! After every score by ASU they had a team on a nearby mountain doing fireworks in celebration! The stadium is very nice and modern and it was easy to navigate it and find our seating section. The concession stands had a decent selection of items and we made sure to buy one of the souvenir cups. It was expensive but that’s to be expected because the school needs to generate income. I recommend sitting in the middle and up high for the best view. Not only do you get to see the entire game very well, you can also get cool views of the entire valley from up there! One issue I noticed is the lack of parking in the area. This stadium is located in downtown tempe and there is simply not a ton of parking close by. I suggest using one of the park n ride lots along the light rail to park you car and then take the light rail to the veterans way stop. The light rail station I’m referring to is right outside the stadium and it’s only a few minute walk away. You can also ride the light rail for free when you have tickets to any type of event in the area. Examples include ASU sporting events, concerts, cardinals game, diamondback games etc etc. It’s really a great way to easily park and get to the game and then back to your vehicle stress free. Overall our experience at Mountain America stadium was top notch. The atmosphere was awesome and we had a great time seeing the sun devils...
