I went to this place on recommendation by a friend. The interior is quite large with a bar area, booth and table seating with a variety in seats and sizing. The bathroom was clean and easy to navigate. When we sat down we were told to use a QR code to access the menu and order, which I did not like because that method of ordering is not accessible nor manageable for older people and those without phones. After that we ordered, and I got the French Toast with bacon and the Korean BBQ Spicy Poutine with a iced Chai latte. The chai was underwhelming and tasted like it was prepared from a syrup base and not mixed well, something I wasn't expecting due to the price of the drink. When the food arrived it was small servings and again, a high price point for all food served. I shared with my friend but one should expect at LEAST 30 per person. We also paid for the games ticket, which was priced at 6 dollars. I think if you wanted to come here to play games and drink various beverages, price wise it is fine. But the food to me did not seem luxurious, large, or tasty enough to defend such high prices when I've eaten larger portions of similar quality at lower priced restaurants (non chain too). I think out of all the dishes that we ate the Korean Spicy BBQ Poutine was the best. I also had a lavendar lemonade, but it was overly sweet with little lavendar taste. Its a very fun place with a large assortment of games, but the drinks and food did little to impress me. Our sever was attentive and made sure to check on us and refill our water. The atmosphere was lively and at one point the music played so loud we couldn't talk, but eventually it was lowered. I like the place but again. I like the games and location more than the pricing and quality of the...
Read moreI came here on an app called Meet up a long time ago, I play some games with some people even with one of the workers when he can play with us, I forgot his name, but he is a nice guy that does his best on the job, even if he is not on the clock at times he still helps a bit around the building.
The place is great but over time when some of the people recognize me from Meet up, I feel like they rather want me to not play with them by how they act and by reading their face.
One day I came on the event for Meet up that happens every two weeks and I came early to the same table I sat where the people usually go, when I said hi, he just ignores me and want to his phone so i went to my phone to pass the time but over the rest come by and act like i don’t exist, when they set up the game they didn’t give any cards so i just left the building since I don’t want to make a scene.
I don’t know why they don’t want to hang out with me, maybe because I have brain damage so I may act a bit odd at times or I'm from Phx in an area where my life could be at risk at any time, so my social path is a different then they know.
I have lost interest of coming back here for about 3 months now, i may come back or look at other places to hang out at where some people just accept who I am rather than leave me in the dark.
edit: i was ask about the food so here is my experience/thoughts about them.
the food is good but it cost a little to much for me that i think a fast food Restaurant or Olive Garden would be more affordable, if you are a college student or someone who is low on funds at the moment this place may not be for you.
but the food is good tho some of it i can make it myself at home by getting the stuff at Walmart or fry's, maybe a gas station...
Read moreI used to come here a lot a few years ago with groups of 4-6 people, and had a blast each time. However I'm here right now with one (1) friend, and the experience is just not what it used to be.
We seat ourselves and order some sodas and a plate of nachos. Our plan was to do some brainstorming regarding some art stuff, so we weren't interested in the games this time. We get checked on two or three times in the first hour or so, and then.... nothing. Everyone around us is being asked how their food is, how's their night going, do you need a refill, etc.
I guess since we're just two people who aren't partaking in the 6$/person board games we don't get free refills anymore? We might've thought to order more, but honestly the price and lack of care kinda threw us off. Nowhere on the website is there some sort of statement or policy regarding how many refills you get for sodas, so I don't really get why we're being ignored.
I of course have seperate issues about the menus being qr codes (security risk, relies on the customer having a smart phone, just lame in general) and the drinks menu being only alcohol (are soda and water not drinks? be more clear. not everyone wants to drink alcohol.) However this is an issue I have with almost every restaurant I've been to for the past few years, so this place isn't special in that regard.
To be clear: I used to love coming here. It's not too far from my house, the atmosphere was great, the games are fun, and the food was ok. It doesn't take a lot to please me, so the fact that I'm even writing this means a lot. I'm sad to have to write this, but it...
