Headed out to Drop Dead Gorgeous with my crew last night and let me just say, we were living. From the moment we checked in at the Filthy Animal hostess stand (which, honestly, sounds like the beginning of a very fun crime novel), we knew we were in for something special.
They whisked us through the velvet ropes and straight into the time machine, aka a 1970s cocktail lounge so groovy it would make Donna Summer weep glitter tears. Think Studio 54 meets your coolest aunt’s basement bar, shag carpet vibes without the allergy attack.
Our server Annie? A literal gem. She kept our cocktails coming, our waters topped, and served us insider knowledge about the concept like the sparkly tour guide of our disco dreams. We tried most of the cocktail menu, what can I say, we’re overachievers, and while the pours were a smidge on the petite side, the price point made it feel like a boozy tapas experience. Quality over quantity, darling. Honestly, we loved being able to sip our way through the lineup without needing a group intervention, or texting an ex, which, thankfully, didn’t happen. Growth!
And let’s talk ambiance. It was the real star, dim lighting, funky tunes, and that “is this a bar or a really good fever dream?” kind of magic. You’re not just grabbing drinks, you’re stepping into a vibe. The kind of place where you forget your ex’s name, remember your worth, and maybe flirt with a stranger in gold lamé.
So here’s your friendly PSA: get to Drop Dead Gorgeous before the TikTokers find it and turn it into another Mill Avenue cliché. This place is pure retro gold. Go for the cocktails, stay for the nostalgia, and leave your emotional baggage at the door, unless it matches...
Read moreWriting this purely for the service & ambiance, I visited Arizona for my first time this week and it did not disappoint. Coolest bar I’ve been to by far, we kept commenting on how amazing their music playlist was, the drinks were delicious but my favorite part was the employees. I don’t remember their name but they call themselves the M&M’s and I think that is so cute. They chatted with us like we were already long time friends & aside from that they were very knowledgeable about the drinks & helped my indecisive-ness. It all looked so good!
Another thing I liked was the prices, for being such a cool spot they aren’t over-pricing & I like that it’s accessible to more demographics.
Lastly, not gonna lie I felt a bit underdressed so if you are planning on going to drop dead gorgeous or their restaurant filthy animal, I would dress up a bit....
Read moreVery disappointing. The venue itself looks fantastic, but the service and drinks menu fell far short. We ordered a whiskey and later mojitos, only to be told the staff had to walk to the front bar restaurant to fetch the ingredients. That is unacceptable for a bar of this standard. Instead of showcasing premium spirits, the back bar displayed unattractive water bottles, which made the whole setup look cheap. With such potential, this space could easily become a leading destination. We are visitors from Australia, ready to spend, but instead we took our business elsewhere. To the owner of Drop Dead Gorgeous: with the right direction and vision, this bar could become one of the hottest spots in Arizona—if not the U.S. I would welcome the opportunity to show you how to...
