This meal was a 3 1/2 star experience with the one single item that pushed it above the 3 star average/rating being the bottomless fries came fast and fresh. Now, it was 9:45pm, so this may have had something to do with speed and heat, less demand at this time of night.
Our server was nice, a bit overly friendly and “familiar”, the kind who likes to “tease” a bit much, jab like she’s an old friend. Attentive and helpful but pushed a bit hard. The positive: I’ll take her over grumpy or oblivious anytime.
Food was good. We ordered a double tavern burger which she described as “two kids patties”. Thought it was a bit odd that Tavern Burgers are highly advertised on the menu with tons of pictures and recommendations then downplayed hard when asked about them. Absolutely love the bottomless fries with the RR seasoning on them. And, really love that they’ll bring you any and as much of their numerous sauces as you want, and I love sauces! Particularly like their “campfire” sauce and the homemade tasting ranch. The other burger ordered was the Blue Ribbon. It was pretty big, tasted good and cooked close to the right temperature, which was good. Burgers are good, but definitely feel a bit more “mass produced” than “custom made”. They don’t “wow” you, but are satisfying. Tip: they won’t cook them “medium rare” or lower, and if you ask I’ve had them go into a multi-minute diatribe several times on why they simply call it “some pink”, just roll with it.
The restaurant itself feels dated and dirty. I’ve been to this location numerous times over 20 years and it hasn’t been updated once. Everything has just gotten older and more aged. The bathrooms are run down, absolutely freezing and dirty. The old front “game room” is now a broken down machine storage room hidden by a freestanding vinyl sign, but you can still see inside as you walk by, definitely not classy or nice, looks concerning. And, it’s right in the entry as you walk in. One thing I always notice in this particular location is that you immediately walk into a small foyer and if the host or hostess is currently taking someone to the bar, to the restaurant, picking up an order in the kitchen, went to the bathroom or has left for any other reason, you can be standing there with no greeting and no idea where to go or what to do for quite some time. On this occasion, we only stood there for 10 or 15 seconds before somebody came up, but I have literally stood there before for 5 to 10 full minutes, it’s not a warm and friendly experience when you first walk in and nobody is there, particularly with the new broken-down-machine-storage-room directly to your left. It’s odd.
Overall, the value is decent, the service is generally pretty good, the food is satisfying with good selection, and if the fries are flowing, it’s an overall just-above-average experience that satisfies that occasional “I gotta have a burger and don’t want fast food“ urge. The bottomless fries are what truly push Red Robin past average. If they would invest in cleaning this place up, modernizing it and refurbishing it in a way that was more modern, open and comfortable, and if screened/trained the staff with more consistency, this RR would definitely earn...
Read moreHad the Worst experience I have ever had at a Red Robin's yesterday. I ordered one of the newest burgers they have to offer and was looking forward to it. However I Do Not eat pork, haven't for 13yrs, and since this is America we add bacon to about everything. So I asked to confirm if the brisket was beef not pork and to remove the bacon off. Everything that was asked was noted by the waitress yet not followed. We asked for no ranch and got ranch, my Mother-in-law's burger was not done how requested, no napkins or straws for the little ones to enjoy their drink for sometime, etc. In regards of the burgers after being told they were done incorrectly, especially mine since I'll get extremely sick if I ingest and Pork products. They took the burgers and just scrapped off the product not requested off my Mother-in-laws burger leaving the taste of the product on the burger and her not eating it. As well as just removing the bacon off my burger and jalapeños. Not taking into consideration that I DO NOT eat pork, which was mentioned to the waitress. The waitress goes back to the kitchen and I can hear the waitresses, now others that are not attending my table, and the cooks talking about my request and how ridiculous it is, and making it seem like I was being difficult. That upset me and left a bad taste in my mouth I lost my appetite, and requested the waitress to scratch the burger ill just eat broccoli. The manager than shows up 3 minutes from informing the waitress to forget the burger, with the burger faster than the 1st burger came out with jalapeños and just a new patty switched. Still not allowing me to eat it due to pork grease, etc. I know it's stupid and sucks but I CAN NOT EAT IT. The manager didn't apologize, actually no one did to my Mother-in-law or I about the scenario. We were still charged full price and on top of that automatically hit with gratuity. Customer service was awful, the Manager didn't do anything to fix the experience and charged us full price for 2 items that WERE NOT EATEN. Thats about $100 bill for me and charged for a non eaten item on my in laws bill. My dog loved them but overall the experience was awful and upsetting. Not coming to this Red Robin's for awhile. And extremely upset and wasn't worth losing money...
Read moreFood: Eh 1/5 Service: Decent 3/5 Venue: Eh 2/5 Wait: 4/5 (it was Father's day, and for party of 7 it was only 15 minutes).
I ordered a the chicken and waffles sandwich. The chicken was hot but the waffles weren't. The waitress (her name started with a C or K and she was blonde) couldn't tell me what came on it, her excuse was it wasn't very popular. The chicken tasted as if it had been in the same batter and fryer as fish, and was not appetizing. I had no idea the syrup for the sandwich was spiked, and the waitress didn't tell me either, I simply don't do any kind of alcohol. The sandwich was very saddening, and the cold overseasoned steak fries made it no better. Other orders come out with wrong condiments, and was was mistaken for crispy chicken even though grilled was ordered. The waitress reassured us she wasn't the reason that this happened, blaming the kitchen. First rule of food service is that the team is a TEAM everyone takes the blame. The venue is 2/5 because every time we go here they literally put us in the same exact spot at the back, I certainly believe there are more spots that can fit a party of six. Edit: 7/30/17 We went with a rather large party and I was very displeased. I learned from the sandwiches so I ordered the Banzai salad, certainly they couldn't do salad wrong, but I was completely blown away. The teriyaki chicken was burnt and when you burn food in a sweet sauce like teriyaki, it gets very very bitter. The salad had more white leaf than green, it was room temperature, and the garlic toast was cold and burnt. This was my third and final try. Ticked off service, because the waiter (Turner) spilled lemon water all over my dress shirt. I wouldn't have been too upset if he hadnt only resolved this with a pat of the back saying "Sorry dude". The waiters didn't know how to handle a large party with separate checks, and the experience all in all wasn't good. This is my fourth time at this Red Robin (I can't convince the family to stop going because it is the closest restaurant to our church), but I for sure won't...
