Steak 'n Shake — Restaurant in Terre Haute

I Can Remember When They First Opened Up Year's Ago.

The Place Was Fully Loaded During The Grand Opening.

Most Folks Either Had To Leave&Return The Next Day,

Because All The Booths&The Tables Were Unavailable.

Or Sit&Wait For Seating Seçtion Availability.

Barely Enough To Seat&Fit The HUGE Sized Crowd Of The Customers That Were Here During That Time.

The Dining Room Wasn't Big Enough To Fit Everyone That Visited Here That Day.

It Was Abit Overcrowded.

After Walking Into The Cafe,

You Barely Had Enough Room For Walking/Standing Space.

Almost All Of The Customers Were Basically Crowded Together.

In Other Words Not Having At Least Approximately 1 Ft Of Walking Space Here,

I'm Talking Elbow To Elbow Practically Almost In Each Other's Face.

I'd Say Folks Were At Least Almost 2 Inches Apart From The Other Visitors Crammed Together While Waiting To Order&Be Seated.

Ya Couldn't Move Without Being Elbowed Or Bumping Into Someone.

It's Kinda Hard To Explain How Crowded It Was With Barely Enough Movement Space.

🤔I Geuss Ya Could Say.. Kinda Like An Overcrowded Concert Type Of Crowd Almost Right Up Each Other's Arse. Ya Dig?

Otherwise You'd Have To Be There During That Time To Fully Understand What I'm Talking About.

That's How Overcrowded It Was.

Despite Being Overcrowded

Yet Somehow S'nS Fitted Almost Half Of The Town Throughout The Rest Of The Night.

If Y'All Remember The Grand Opening You'll Know What I'm Talking About.

S'nS Made Alot Of Money That Day/Night.

The Food Was Always Fresh&Hot&Very Delicious.

The Staff Were Professional.

Sadly To Say Since Then..

Over The Year's They Went DownHill.

The Food Wasn't Always Fresh As It Used To Be.

The Staff Became Rude.

Not Sure About Most Of The Customers Experiences..

But My Experiences Here Wasn't Very Good At All.

Every Time I Visited Here The Food Was Worser Than The Previous Visit.

Either Cold,Undercooked Or Unfresh.

The Only Thing Good Was The Shakes.

Don't Get Me Wrong Ok?

I Enjoy S'nS Cafe's&The 50s Inspired Theme Dining Room Decorational Appearance.

I Just Don't Like The Poor Customer Service The Staff Provides Or The Low Quality Of The Food At This One.

The S'nS's During The 70s Were Alot Better Than The Modern Version Of Todays S'nS's We Have Now..

The Menu Here Used To Be Decent Priced Now It's Abit Expensive Priced.

S'nS At This Location Was So Much Better Year's Ago.

When They Served Fresh&Hot Food During Every Visit On A Weekly Basis.

Nowadays It's A Coin Toss On The Quality Of The Food.

Alot Of Customers Quit Visiting Over The Year's.

It's Probably Because Of The Staff&Their Food.

If The Rude Staff&Raunchy Food Doesn't Scare Away The Customer's...

Then The Nosy&Creepy Local Weirdos That Occasionally Hangout Around The Parking Lot Area

Whom All Have A Bad Habit Of Rudely Staring At Other Visitor's From Their Parked Car's/Truck's At Night Will.

This Makes People Feel Very VERY Uncomfortable.

If This Continues No One Will Wanna Visit Here After Dark Anymore.

Visit Here If Ya Want..

Ya Might/Might Not Get Fresh Food.

I Avoided This Place For A Few Year's In The Past

I Gave This Place Many Chances Since Than..

No Improvements On The Food.🙁

Might Give It One More Chance.. I Doubt It.

A stoner's hideaway. When you first walk in, it seems like your typical steak and shake. By the time we made it to the sign where you wait to be seated it was already becoming clear that this place was a confused mess. The restaurant was at about 20% capacity. There was about 10 staff working. When we sat down the table was wet from being wiped off but there was still food particles on it. The girl taking our order was nice enough. It was so loud from the employees talking and joking around that the girl taking our order couldn't hear us and kept asking us to repeat ourselves. One person ordered two chilli dogs with onion and no cheese. I ordered a taco salad with no chips and sauce on the side with vegetable soup. The chilli dogs came out with no onions and cheese on it...and very little chilli for that matter. My vegetable soup never showed up. My salad came out first with sauce on the side but with chips on it. The girl serving us noticed and had it remade. When it came back it had no chips but the sauce was all over it. She noticed that as well and asked if it was ok or if I wanted them to remake it a third time. I told her I would just eat it. About 2/3 way through the salad I found a hair in it on the opposite side from where I was sitting under the lettuce. I also took one drink of my tea and it tasted dirty...never had that before. The best description I can give is it tasted like dirty dish water smells. When I looked at the glass there was food caked on the of the glass next to where I drank from. When we went to pay we stood there a while. When we paid they didnt give us a receipt so we had to wait again for that. No discount, no manager. We didnt tip the girl which I feel a little bad about and I always leave really nice tips. I know it wasnt all the girls fault but I couldn't reward the horrible overall service and quality. The employees are all younger...probably college students. I think they were probably all stoned to the bone from some good weed. The bathrooms were dirty too. How can the people serving you be clean if the bathrooms where they wash their hands are dirty? Probably the number 1 worst restaurant experience I've had and I travel overnight for work 5 days a week. After getting to my vehicle I started dry heaving. My stomach still feels messed up 3...

First off I am a big fan of Steak n Shakes food and I am by no way a picky eater when it comes to burgers and fries. I went through drive through around 9:30 on July 24th, 2018. Ordered a #4 with everything on it, Which is double bacon steak burger with letucce, tomato, union, and pickle. Also ordered a mint Oreo shake. Wanted in drive through for almost an hour with only two cars in front of me. Finally got my food and went home. Once I got home and could see the bag I found what looked like pizza sauce all over the bag. When i opened up the bag I notice that some of the red substance was inside the bag as well. I also notice that the fries cup was only half not quite 3/4 full of small broken fries. I unrapped my burger to find it plain. I asked for everything on it. On top of that the two patties were dry compared to the usual flavorful grease dripping patties that you normally get at SnS. Also there was only one slice of bacon instead of the normal 2 that are supposed to come on this burger. The shake was good but was missing the classic cherry on top. Overal this food was disappointing and the fact that I had to wait so long for it makes it that much worse. I normally don’t leave bad reviews like this but after having several bad experiences At restaurants due to poor service and food, I felt that it is time to make a stand. Steak n Shake is just another restaurant in south Terre Haute that has lost my respect.

I have been stuck in the bathroom for the past hour with extreme stomach pain and foul bowel movements. I chalking this up to food poisoning from the food that was consumed in the review. My guess is that red stuff that was on and in the bag was blood or juice from the raw hamburger patties and that some it got on the food. I definitely will not be going back to this Steak and Shake location anytime...
