The smoked turkey is to die for!!! 5 stars
Updated review 9/22/2023 Now given 1 star!!! First off I must say the Silverstar Smokehouse was my husband and my treat to ourselves at least twice a week for the last 3 or 4 months from when we first discovered it. We brought our family members there and bragged about how great their meats were. Last night, however, my husband and I went there for a nice dinner and to see how this combining of 3 different restaurants would be. Our experience was not phenomenal by any means. The mixture of Italian grapes and rainbow colored christmas lights strung across the dining room with the very mixed wall decor was too much!!!! A McDonald's Ronald Mc Donald sign hanging on the wall, Mona Lisa pictures with different faces, carasoul horses, peacock, bicycle, old phone booth, and the 80's music playing in the background was just way too much for our senses to handle!!! There is absolutely no rhyme or reason to the decor, music or ambiance. They changed their menu for the Silverstar! Removed a lot of items and raised there prices by a dollar or more for each me u item. They quit serving the delicious pretzel with sausage!!! My favorite! Then we ordered 2 orders of the armadillo eggs and the server came back to tell us they were all out of armadillo eggs. The smoked turkey breast which I always order was just pitiful. DRY!!! I grabbed the BBQ sauce bottle they have on their tables and put some on my turkey, took a bite, spit it out! It was sour!!!! It was spoiled! We never received marinara for the mozzarella sticks we ordered. Never received the extra sides of gravy or ranch we ordered. The server was never around to refill our drinks. No one in there looked happy, just very confused. The music they should have been playing in the background should have been circus/ carnival music. It was a joke. How can you turn a beautiful restaurant with beautiful western wall decor and atmosphere into a 3 ring circus?! We will never be back. A total shame!!! I can't even fathom what is going on inside the owners head! Just...
Read moreI called ahead and asked questions about reserving a conference room to host a baby shower for 5/13/23 at 11:00 AM. I was told as long as we were out by 4pm, there would be no cost for the room. I asked if there was a quota that had to be met and if our guests would need to order food, and if so, how much/how many. I was told they wouldn't. I reserved the room for 20 people in total. We showed up and began taking our things to the room, when a manager stopped us and said we weren't allowed to bring our own pre-made drinks (sweet tea, unsweet tea, and lemonade) into the restaurant, but did allow our snacks and cake. I asked him why, and he said it was a safety violation and they would be shut down if they were caught allowing it. He told us he could bring us pitchers of theirs instead. We continued with the party, where several guests placed orders since the party was at lunchtime, myself included. When we got the bill, I discovered he'd charged me $24 for those 3 gallons of drinks, $8.00 each. When I spoke to the manager about it, he asked me if I honestly expected to use the room for free. I told him that is what we were told, yes. I explained that he never mentioned "selling" us the drinks, and that several of us had placed orders, so it wasn't "free" at all! After a heated argument about the lies we'd been told, and I'd ended the conversation by telling him we were finished there, he pulled the mother-to-be aside and began talking with her about the situation. She was our "guest" of honor and knew nothing of the situation since I was hosting the party as a surprise. He was very unprofessional, and a liar. I told him my family will never be back. Total cost after 3 gallons of drinks we were forced to purchase, the cost of 1 appetizer of nachos, and the gratuity they added to the bill (no choice of that either) was $52.57. I would consider the room far from free as we were quoted. As a final "kiss this" move, the servers were moving our stuff and not even waiting on us as we tried packing things up to clean us...
Read moreI had an amazing birthday dinner for a friend here. There was a banquet room that was used because of the group that we had. I was with the group from Radiant Church, and this is one dinner with friends that I will never forget. When I arrived, there were pitchers of sweet and unsweet tea and water set up. The sweet tea was the way that I like it, not too sweet. I ordered the Texas toothpicks (fried jalapeno and onion strips) as an appetizer, and my brother ordered the salsa and chips. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with steamed broccoli and coleslaw, and it was really good. The broccoli tasted like it was not steamed to the point it was not soggy, and the coleslaw was great on the sandwich. I just wish the sauce was thicker. My friend brought in cupcakes from Smallcakes on Richmond Road for our dessert. When renting the banquet rooms, cakes can be brought in. The bathroom needs to be worked on because there was no hot water, and both toilets in the men's bathroom had poor flushes on them. This place actually felt like Texas. It was even like how I seen Texas barbeque restaurants and steakhouses on TV, like CD's Bar and Grill on Walker, Texas Ranger. The reason I gave four stars was because of the poor flushes on both toilets in the men's bathroom and there was only one urinal, but it worked the way it should. I will come back to this place again. I was glad this is a Texarkana local, which is not often...
