We arrived on a Friday evening and expected to wait. We were not disappointed in this regard. There was 2 of us . What was frustrating was that others who came after us were seated first, saying g he was a party of one and sat at a larger table by himself while others continued to wait.
Eventually we were sat in a corner in a booth. The waitress arrived and we told her what we wanted (not our first time there). She was interested in everyone else and when we placed our order, she began bussing the table next to us. She was not the bus crew.
The mixed fajitas arrived cold, the onions undercooked and only 1 spoon was brought out. She forgot the sides and had to be asked for them, which she brought back reluctantly. She never came back to check on us. I found another waitress and asked her for a spoon. She said she would get someone. Our waitress showed up searched our table, and told us that we already had “a” spoon. We asked her for another one because there were 2 of us. She acted insulted and was doing us a huge favor when bringing us a second spoon.
How are two people supposed to have beans/quacamole/cheese/pico/sour cream with only one spoon?
She immediately left and was not seen again till we had to ask another waitress for our bill. She brought the bill and immediately began bussing the table while we were sitting at it. By now the restaurant was dying down and there were several empty tables around us. There was no one waiting for our table.
Needless to say, it was not on par with the other 4 times we’ve been there. Service was absolutely horrible, and she doesn’t want to be in the hospitality industry she should seek employment elsewhere. She is not doing herself or her...
Read moreWe had a very large party and it was difficult to accommodate everyone at the time we arrived. I was not in charge of the reservation, so I don’t know the process on how that was made. We finally were seated together. However, once we placed our orders I was very specific that I wanted to order À la carte and I explained the three items that I wanted to have on my plate. When we got our food, I was given something different than what I had specified in my order. Instead of taking the plate back and saying, “I’m so sorry for the mistake,” the waiter told me that he had my order right there written on his notepad and tried to show it to me. Excuse me?? I waited tables for almost 10 years of my life, and the customer is always right in a very clear situation of misunderstanding like this. Not to mention, that my husband and my friend that was sitting next to me had heard me place my order and agreed with me that the server had gotten it wrong. In any event, they took my plate but were disgruntled about having to change the items and get me a new plate. The food was mediocre at best, but the attitude of the server was shocking to me. I finally was brought the correct plate of food, however I had ordered a small cup of queso for my husband in addition to his meal that never came, and since I wasn’t paying the bill I’m not sure if we were charged. The food at Alicia’s Mexican Grille is basic chain Mexican food at best. Salsa is ok, but the Top Shelf Margarita was way too sweet and the service is not good—I don’t go out to eat to experience back talk from wait staff. Thanks,...
Read moreThis used to be my favorite restaurant in Houston. Unfortunately the last three times I've been here I've noticed some consistent changes and I've even spoken to the on duty manager about it my last visit. The first of my last three visits we noticed that while the portions of the Fajitas for two were smaller, the price has gone up. This was a pick up order and we didn't realize until we got home that we were missing a dish and the fajitas poblano we ordered didn't have cheese on it and had a small sprinkling of peppers. My family was ready to write Alicia's off after this since they also had a rough experience there a couple weeks before, but I thought maybe they got our order wrong, so we'd try them again. Our last visit was supposed to be a special one; we had family in town from out of country and we wanted to show them the best tortillas in Houston at our favorite tex mex restaurant and oh how they were disappointed. I enjoyed my chimichanga this time, but the mixed fajitas poblano was again not up to the same standards that we've enjoyed in years previous. The most surprising issue was the drinks. We all ordered a round of the spicy cucumber margaritas and found it lacking spice, flavor, and tequila (but not water!). I have a picture of a finished margarita at our table and the glass is still more than half full of ice. Can you imaginr paying $20 for that? Luckily the manager came over and comped a couple of our drinks, but we still left with a bad taste in our mouths. These last few visits have solidified my view on Alicia's and I won't be returning...
