I visited Creamistry tonight around 8 PM, excited to treat myself after months of cutting back on sweets. While I know Creamistry is on the pricey side, Iâve always loved the concept and felt it was worth the splurge. Sadly, this visit was a huge letdown.
First, the store looked run-down. The windows were filthy, like they hadnât been cleaned in months. There was a strange mix of decorations â a leftover Christmas poinsettia, gold ornaments, and random plastic Easter eggs hanging from the walls and light fixtures. It felt more neglected than festive.
I placed my order and was told it would take extra time because the waffle bowl had to be made. That surprised me â fresh waffle bowls used to be the norm. The employee then said they donât make them fresh anymore. I decided to wait anyway. When I finally got my ice cream, it was shockingly small. I know the portion sizes â this wasnât it. When I asked, I was told âitâs always been that size.â It definitely hasnât.
To top it off, the ice cream wasnât even in a waffle bowl like I ordered. When I reminded them, they pulled the darkest, most burnt-looking waffle Iâve ever seen from the waffle maker and just dropped it into a cup. I had to ask again if the ice cream goes in the bowl, which they finally fixed.
Overall, itâs clear the owner is cutting corners, and it shows. I get that prices are going up everywhere, and Iâm fine with paying more â but donât raise prices while shrinking servings and cutting quality. It feels dishonest.
Creamistry used to be a special treat for my family. At one point, I was coming once a week. But after tonight, I wonât be back. The portions, cups, lids, waffle bowls â even the spoons â are all noticeably smaller and of cheaper quality now. Spending $11 on what looks like a kiddie cup is not the experience I signed up for. I...
Read moreI am an occasioned dessert consumer, and boy what can I say about the experience I had here. I came down from East Coast, to visit family, and the weather immediately had me wanting something cold. And course, unfamiliar with the surrounding, I googled dessert businesses around the hotel that I was occupying for a week and this "Creamistry" search result popped up. Creamistry was about 5 minutes away from me. At first I was hesitant, but that's normal when trying out new things, so I opened my Uber app and called upon the closest driver available. As soon as I entered the place I was greeted by a warm welcome from all the employees. JJ and Ahmed was the first employees that I served me, they were nice and friendly and I wouldn't expect anything else from the first initial feel of the place. Everything was nice to look at and it didn't feel overwhelming. As I approach the cashier, JJ, he asked me if I was new and if I was, if I wanted the menu explained. I politely declined as I had my eyes set for the birthday cake already. As I moved a long the line I was fascinated by the cool smokey effect that the liquid nitrogen created. Obviously I taken videos to show all my friends back at home. As they called my name I was strangely excited. To be honest it looks like any regular ice cream, but when you take the first bite you can instantly taste and feel the difference between the two, liquid nitrogen based and regular made ice cream. It was rich and creamy ( hence the name Creamistry I guess đđ). I'm not sure if I can eat regular ice cream from now on! I would definitely recommend this place to everyone and anyone, even occasioned dessert eater...
Read moreThis ice cream shop is a new addition to a Katy shopping strip buzzing with new retail life. The location is always packed and favorited by teens and families alike. I decided to try it out and see what all the hype was about! My verdict? It was... ok. When we arrived, the first thing I noticed was the modern decor. This is a fun place for taking instagram pictures and hanging out with friends. The line was long but the wait was only about 6 minutes. The guy at the counter was very polite and explained the menu to us. You are able to choose your ice cream base which offers great variety since they have dairy free and gluten free options. You are also able to choose from several toppings like cereals, nuts and fresh fruit. I chose a dairy-free base with coconut flavoring. As you wait for your ice cream youâre able to see the science happening while the ice cream artist uses nitrogen to create your dessert. The ice cream comes out in seconds ready for you to enjoy. The taste? Well... it was alright... the ice cream has a different texture than normal ice cream: itâs gooey but firm at the same time... sort of like play-dough. My flavor was bland and didnât offer much satisfaction to my sweet tooth. My partner got a mango sorbet which also had the same texture but a very overwhelmingly sweet after taste. Overall, the service and the experience are worth the visit but the flavor was not all there; however, Iâm willing to try again with other flavors... maybe I can find one...
