I went to the Alhadi restaurant on a Wednesday, 9.29.21 (Lunch time).
FOOD: We ordered two Chicken Shawerma, two Beef Shawerma, one gyro sandwich and one Falafel platter and Baba Ghanoush..... here is what I think... FLAFEL PLATTER= good falafels but not the Traditional recipe (they had NO Parsley inside). they were crunchy outside and soft inside. it came with a mix of Pickles, raw white onions, fresh tomatoes, Hummus and rice. Hummus wasn't really good, it did not have a balanced flavor. The Tahini paste in the mix was actually the main flavor. Rice was mushy and very greasy (alot of butter or/oil). so, not really pleasant. Garlic sauce was good, I liked it. Tahini sauce was good too, very strong flavor. Tzatziki sauce was not good. BABA GANUSH= I liked it, but yet again, too much Tahini sauce in it. Pita bread was overall nice. CHICKEN SHAWERMA= good flavor and well cooked. the sandwich mix was well balanced. Rice was mushy and very greasy (alot of butter or/oil). so, not really pleasant. BEEF SHAWERMA= good flavor and well cooked. the sandwich mix was well balanced. Rice was mushy and very greasy (alot of butter or/oil). so, not really pleasant. GYRO SANDWICH= good flavor and well cooked. the sandwich mix was well balanced. it came with Hummus and Hummus wasn't really good, it did not have a balanced flavor. The Tahini paste in the mix was actually the main flavor.
STAFF: The older lady that got our order was NOT friendly. She was pretty dry, no smile and not a welcoming attitude, at all. She got very frustrated with me as I wasn't ready to order (my first time) and she went off on me as I asked twice if I could order DOLMA (and I hadn't understood that it was not ready). She would get clearly frustrated each time one of us would ask what was included in the meal. She wouldn't explain or describe the meal. Overall NOT a good customer service experience.
CLEALINESS: the main room was clean but messy and dusty. our table had sauce stains on it from the previous customers. The corridor to the restrooms is a nightmare.... Super messy, stuff piled up and on top of other stuff. Chemicals boxes next to food boxes.
RESTROOMS: small, outdated and messy.
PLACE: The place does not have a good look. it is a mix of many different styles which does not give a good vibe. The main style is country/industrial. The overall feeling is of a messy restaurant were no time was spent on getting together a welcoming and harmonious place.
LOCATION: Willowbrook area, not far from the Willowbrook Methodist Hospital.
PRICE: overpriced considering quality and quantity. Some meals are well priced but some are definitely not.
CONCLUSIONS: they should pay way more attention to the customer experience. Food is important, true, but the overall customer experience is what matters the most in the end. I would not go back as nothing impressed me. ALSO, they should definitely be NICER...
Read moreThe Lady (wife/owner?) that works there and answers the phone (sometimes) is a BEAUTIFUL SOUL and because of my feelings for her I'll keep my comments as respectful as possible. As noted by my rating the food is delicious and I couldn't recommend it more. If that's your only concern, dine with confidence.
Now with all that being said, imagine how I must feel about HOW RUDE the male (owner?) must be...I've been a patron there for YEARS, but today makes THE LAST DAY that I turn my chin to his utter rudeness on the phone.
For reference, I called and asked for a gyro platter with rice instead of fries AND THE GUY BARKED AT ME that they don't do that...that that was some other place. (But photos clearly show that they do) and Simply because of his high level of energy from me asking that, I proceeded to the restaurant to see if there was a misunderstanding. I walked in and showed him pictures of food from his google listing and asked was this their food, he responded it was...so when I point out the clear photo of a gyro and rice platter he begins to tell me that some guy yesterday was trying to do whatever. I cut him off and explained that had nothing to do with me, my call today, OR my order....This was 11:07 am, they had just opened...I can't imagine ANY reason to be rude answering a call at your own establishment at the start of the day. Or any day. Even if you no longer offer something, you can find a way to communicate that, that doesn't leave a regular customer feeling like they never wanna visit there again....
Read moreI used to come here all the time but moved 30 minutes away (or more) and found places near me now. I was in the area and wanted to stop for dinner since I remember how good it was.
First let’s address the price changes. I understand Covid happened and prices raised a little but these prices dramatically changed. The chicken kabob plate is $20 now. I went to Lamas in the woodlands and got a WAYYYYY bigger portion that was actually kabobs not shawarma like slices for $15.
The garlic and chili is still very good but it’s NOT worth the price. I would NOT advise anyone to come here. I really wanted to leave once I saw the prices (I ordered over the phone so I stayed and took that “L”) but I didn’t and when I got home and saw the chicken I was flabbergasted. The chicken was not “kabob” it is thin chunks of chicken- as mentioned above almost shawarma thin.
I wish I would have went to Lamas in The Woodlands. I could have got two plates with hookah , an appetizer and hot tea for the same price as here and we just got two plates and an appetizer.
Rant over. Extremely disappointed maybe it has to do with the name change from...
