Urban Bird Hot Chicken — Restaurant in Texas

This was an unfortunate disappointment. I love DH Chicken but it’s so far away. I finally decided to try this place because it’s closer.

Unfortunately from the moment I walked in it was loud. The kitchen is very open and noisy.

There was only about 3 ppl sitting down eating/waiting for food. And 3 people in line to order including me. But there were 3 delivery drivers that came in. It took 20 minutes to finally order food after waiting for them to address and hand the delivery drivers food orders before even acknowledging people there to order food.

After ordering food they called my number and a respectful employee (maybe manager) brought me my food as I was standing up even though they didn’t do that for others. I’m disabled and use a cane. And he said sorry I didn’t realize this was your order and handed me my food so I didn’t have to walk further to grab it. I really did appreciate that.

The food was the big disappointment though. The bird sauce was very tart and ketchup forward. The chicken wasn’t dry so I’ll give them that. It came in large chopped pieces. But the breading wasn’t very crispy. The flavor (Nashville hot) tasted of nothing more than salt and the heat than anything else. The Mac and cheese was bland. And honestly I regret not asking them to remove it. But if I had the fries and chicken would have been too dry together without it because there is no cheese.

3 pickle slices for a full order isn’t enough.

The amount of sauce on the fries wasn’t enough and I had to pay more money for a little half filled cup.

I saved myself money by adding honey from home which helped cut out the heat and salt.

The fries were good and crispy.

I really didn’t like that they added what appeared to be crumbs/breading fall off to the bottom of my fries. It tasted like I licked a salt lamp anytime I ate something that had been laying on the bed of debris.

All in all I probably won’t try this place again. I don’t like having to pay extra for sauce packets especially when it tasted like Mayo and ketchup. I don’t like super salty unflavorful chicken and bland Mac and cheese.

I don’t appreciate having to wait and be passed over ordering, for food delivery drivers because they’re too busy getting their orders together every time a new one comes in.

I get why some people may like this, which is why I’m giving jt 3 stars. But unfortunately DH Chicken’s flavorful juicy chicken, crispy fries, free sauce, free honey, friendly and helpful staff beat out every single aspect of this place.

The only thing UBHC beat them at was location and distance to me. And at $15 🤷‍♀️ I’d rather drive another...

5/21/23 0 stars, if I could give that. Sylvester the manager ruined it for our VERY FIRST visit. Came with my family. Placed our order. The wait was about 30 min long before we got our food. No big deal, trusting the hype was going to make up for it. Get our food, and our order is missing certain items. I go up to the counter, explain what we ordered, they take the food back and the manager wastes about 10 minutes LOOKING for the receipt??? Then tells an employee to tell me that I need to pay extra……. We waited, now, probably 40+ minutes for our food and we have to wait LONGER now because you want to charge for SOME CHEESE? Even the employee over the counter verified that we did want cheese on our sandwiches. Maybe it was a system error, and I have NO problem paying the extra if we weren’t charged for it. But after having to wait so long, no apology, having to wait to pay extra for some toppings. I nicely asked for a complete refund and left the rest of the food on the table, complete meals, sides, and drinks. I told him that for our first time being here, the customer service was AWFUL and we will NOT be back. We didn’t even get to try the food and that’s what sucks about it.. but CHICKEN HEADZ in Porter, TX has NEVER disappointed. Y’all head out there! The owner Vic sometimes even serves you, and truly cares about your opinion, yall check him out. This establishment here though is beyond repair. *Note, we walked over to 5 Guys and spent more than $100 then sat for a bit, and ordered ice cream afterwards. Lost business over pride and probably $3 worth of cheese, good...

My six year old daughter, and I were looking for something to eat this particular day, I passed by this place & I decided to stop in. The only reason I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5, is due to poor customer service. The two young ladies at the front counter were not very welcoming, and we’re not really knowledgeable of the menu, in addition to that, they made me feel like I was asking too many questions, even after I informed them twice, that this was my first time in & me being apologetic. They even managed to make an error on my daughters kids meal by adding seasoning onto her fries when I asked to leave them plain. The young lady said “she didn’t hear me” when I requested it. Nevertheless, FOOD=BOMB!!!! Even my six year old daughter loved it. Restaurant cleanliness was great as well. My daughter asked to go back the next day. The flavors on the Tijuana fries marry together so well together & the Hot chicken is AH-Mazing! I got an order of chicken and waffles for my son to eat later at home & he said it was great as well, bear in mind, he had eaten it several hours later. We are definitely going back, & hopefully the customer service will be as top-tier...
