Love it here! I didn’t really expect much since Paik’s is a chain, but the quality and care put into this location is amazing. The tangsuyuk is my favorite item! I like that the sauce is on the side rather than poured on top of the pork as it keeps the the pork’s crispiness. The jajangmyeon is very hearty, savory and filling. The jjamppong reminds me somewhat of tom yum. The broth is light and they are decently generous with the add ins. I would recommend bringing a friend as the items are all pretty filling. But if you’re big and greedy like me, bring a friend just so you can share multiple items to taste everything ^_^
Edit 3/8/25: Came back today and tried the chicken instead and the batter is amazing!!! It’s very similar to a tempura batter, crispy and light. Also tried the chili jajangmyeon (after trying it once before another time) and they’ve stepped it up by adding a chili oil to it instead of just the peppers on top. Definitely prefer the spicy one now...
Read moreI had heard mixed reviews about this place when they first opened. However, they must have greatly improved their menu because our experience was great! The food tasted like what you would expect and want as a Korean American growing up with these nostalgic meals. We were worried that we ordered too much, but we actually ate everything and had nothing left to take home. The service was phenomenal as well. When they noticed that we were a group of 5, they moved us to a wider space with 2 tables. They also offered us thermal cups to drink warm water instead of using the cold cups on the table. Moreover, the server offered us fried dumplings on the house! The restaurant itself is also very spacious and clean. This is a great spot for a casual lunch or dinner with family and friends. Thank you Paik's...
Read moreFirst time at this location. I've been to one in San Jose. I must day the tastes were consistent for these two places.
Jjajangmyum was good. The spice noodle soup was okay but lacked the depth of flavor that it should have. Perhaps it's because they use minimal amounts of the key ingredients listed on the menu - pork, calamari, and mussels. In fact, there were about 3 slices (~ 3mm x 3mm x 25mm) of pork and found no, yes zero, calamari in my dish. There were two mussels. The vegetable content appears to be limited to Napa cabbage, it seemed, though amount of that was reasonable.
Granted that inflation is in full force and that their price is relatively lower, I would rather pay a bit more and get the full dish with full depth in taste.
